The OpportunityBlack & Veatch has an opportunity for a Condition Assessment Solutions Lead within Infrastructure Advisory. This position will define and advance the Condition Assessment Solution, drive technical excellence, develop market-leading capabilities, and help clients address infrastructure lifecycle challenges.
The leader will collaborate with Market Interface, Delivery, and regional teams to grow the practice, support strategic pursuits, develop innovative offerings, and strengthen Black & Veatch's position as a trusted advisor across water, wastewater, power, and infrastructure markets.
Key ResponsibilitiesSuccess in This RoleSuccess will be defined by advancing solution strategy, technical excellence, innovation, market differentiation, strategic growth, project performance, and development of future technical leaders.
Solution Strategy and Technical Leadership- Develop and maintain the strategic vision, roadmap, growth plan, and investment priorities for the Condition Assessment Solution.
- Identify client needs, market trends, regulatory drivers, and emerging technologies that should influence future offerings.
- Serve as a senior technical authority; establish methodologies, standards, quality expectations, and best practices.
- Develop and integrate innovative inspection technologies, digital tools, analytics, and artificial intelligence applications.
- Provide technical leadership and quality oversight for strategically important projects, pursuits, and client engagements.
Market Growth and Strategic Pursuits- Develop solution differentiators, value propositions, thought leadership, and client engagement strategies with Market Interface teams.
- Provide technical and commercial leadership for capture planning, proposals, interviews, negotiations, and executive-level client presentations.
- Create and secure new and repeat business for condition assessment and related asset lifecycle services.
- Build strategic partnerships and represent Black & Veatch through industry organizations, conferences, publications, and speaking engagements.
- Serve as a trusted advisor regarding condition assessment, risk management, rehabilitation, and asset lifecycle planning.
Project Management- Serve as Project Manager for selected condition assessment projects and programs.
- Manage multiple clients, projects, or workstreams with accountability for scope, budget, cost, schedule, quality, safety, contracts, risk, financial performance, and client satisfaction.
- Apply Black & Veatch project management requirements through initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closeout.
- Develop execution strategies, staffing plans, work plans, forecasts, scopes, fees, schedules, estimates, and change-management approaches.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate field investigations, specialty inspections, data analytics, rehabilitation planning, construction support, and third-party providers.
- Manage technical and commercial risks, including fixed-price services, emerging technologies, subcontractors, new clients, and uncertain asset information.
- Monitor budgets, forecasts, costs, receivables, profitability, and resource utilization; implement corrective actions as needed.
Talent and Capability Development- Mentor technical leaders, subject matter experts, project managers, and future practice leaders.
- Support recruiting, workforce and succession planning, capability development, and knowledge sharing across regional and national teams.
- Partner with Delivery leaders to align staffing and execution capabilities with solution strategy and client commitments.
- Promote collaboration, inclusion, accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
Management ResponsibilitiesActs as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.
Preferred QualificationsActs as a Solutions Lead and Project Manager. Leads project teams that may vary by assignment and provides technical direction, delegation, coaching, and performance feedback to professionals supporting the Condition Assessment Solution.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in condition assessment, asset engineering, asset management, infrastructure consulting, project management, or related disciplines.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
- Recognized subject matter expertise in condition assessment, infrastructure risk, rehabilitation planning, and asset lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated success growing technical practices or solution portfolios, developing innovative offerings, supporting strategic pursuits, and building client relationships.
- Established industry presence through leadership, publications, presentations, committees, or other thought leadership.
- Experience developing technical professionals, project managers, and future leaders.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 7+ years of professional experience in engineering, consulting, condition assessment, asset management, infrastructure advisory, or related professional services
