Full Job Description
Position Overview:

The Composite Design Engineer will complete a departmental rotation to gain a comprehensive understanding of Fibreworks Composite's processes, culminating in the Engineering department. This role involves designing and developing composite components, creating detailed 3D models, and preparing engineering documentation to support manufacturing and customer requirements. The engineer will collaborate with production teams, vendors, and customers to ensure efficient design implementation and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete a departmental rotation to learn FWC's processes, with a final placement in Engineering.
  • Develop accurate 3D models, preliminary layouts, and laminating production details in accordance with scheduled release deadlines.
  • Prepare engineering drawings and technical documentation for composite part manufacturing and customer data submissions.
  • Act as a liaison with production teams during the initial manufacturing phase to identify and resolve engineering challenges.
  • Analyze and solve design and manufacturing issues to improve efficiency and product quality.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and advancements in composite manufacturing to enhance design and production processes.
  • Collaborate with vendors to evaluate supplier lead times, costs, and the availability of parts and tooling required for production.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring alignment on project requirements and expectations.
  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures, workplace policies, and industry regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


What You Will Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years of experience in design engineering.
  • Proficient in using CATIA software for composite design, with a solid understanding of tolerances and their impact on composite manufacturing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams, vendors, and customers.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and project management.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to challenges.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Combination of indoor and outdoor activities with varying conditions
