Component Manufacturing Engineer in Blythewood, SC

Job Description:

  • Professional experience with developing, maintaining, and continually improving metal removal machine processes, such as: Finish precision grinding machining of ID/OD features on alloy steel components (tolerances as precise as .0015 microns)- maintaining CPK capabilities that meet the drawing/customers' requirements.

  • Finish honing machining of ID features on alloy steel components (tolerances as precise as .0015 microns) - maintaining CPK capabilities that meet the drawing/customers' requirements.
  • CNC milling of Ductile iron casting components - maintaining CPK capabilities that meet the drawing/customers' requirements.

  • Experience with the operation of multiple types of metal removal machining equipment such as ID/OD precision Grinders, ID precision honing machines, CNC milling and turning machines (Mazak experience a major plus)
  • Familiarity/experience with the maintenance of multiple types of metal removal machining equipment such as ID/OD precision Grinders, ID precision honing machines, CNC milling and turning machines (Mazak experience a major plus) - working with our maintenance technicians, controls engineers, and machine tool suppliers for expedited repairs for equipment. To be self-sufficient to be able to research the assistance for mechanical/ electronic or PLC repairs and parts needed on these machines.
  • Experience with writing Preventative Maintenance work orders to maintain the life and accuracy of the machining equipment. Also, using the PM system to evaluate data to improve uptime.
  • Familiarity/experience with air gaging if ID/ OD features on alloy steel components (tolerances as precise as .0015 microns)- maintaining CPK capabilities that meet the drawing/customers' requirements.
  • Statistical Process Control experience a major plus for data and process analysis.
  • Fixture design experience for part holding to facilitate machining high production of 8620 Alloy steel components, as well as Ductile Iron Casting components -maintaining CPK capabilities that meet the drawing/customers' requirements.
  • Experience in writing detailed work instructions for all of the machining processes.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining PFMEA documents for all of the machining processes.
  • Experience working with and training operators and process technicians of the machining equipment.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams: Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, Toolroom, Maintenance, Lab, Project Management, EHS and Senior leadership.
  • Kaizen Lean experience -using the tools of Kaizen to improve processes.
  • Experience with RFQ development and capital projects.
  • Experience working on multiple projects with thorough communication to all depts involved.


8-hour days per week (Monday - Friday), Overtime and weekend work as needed.

Mechanical/ Electrical Bachelor's Degree preferred; Comparable experience will be considered.
