Job Overview
The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) announces an examination process to create an eligibility list to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Community Health Nurse I/II Case Manager in the Public Health & Preventive Care Division. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill future vacancies for this classification in the Home Visiting Programs for up to four (4) months.

The current vacancy is in the Tuberculosis clinic.

This recruitment will close for external candidates, on or before the date list above, once a sufficient number of external applicants have been identified.

To perform public/community health nursing services in clinics, homes and in the community; and to provide community and client centered counseling, education and information concerning illnesses.

Minimum Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in nursing or equivalent registered nursing education, training, and experience; AND
  • Two (2) years' experience as a registered nurse that includes a minimum of one (1) year of community health nursing experience, preferable within the last five (5) years.
  • Note: Community Health Nursing is defined as a nursing assignment in a community-based program such as those in school nursing, jails/prisons, industrial settings, home visits, case management, or community outreach programs associated with hospitals. Private physicians' offices and hospital settings are not considered a part of community health unless there is an outreach aspect which the candidate has been assigned to for a minimum of one year.

Distinguishing Characteristics:
This is a special assignment class within the Community Health Nurse classification series. The practice of community health field nursing shares many similarities with the practice of case management. Therefore, a Community Health Nurse II who is currently working in the field as a Community Health Nurse and who is accredited as a Nurse Case Manager by passing the National Nurse Case Manager examination may be advanced to the Case Manager position but only while working in a field position. If the Case Manager leaves the field position, the employee will return to the Community Health Nurse II classification and pay grade.
License or Certificate:
  • Possession of a valid and appropriate Nevada Registered Nurse License
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate Certified Case Manager (CCM) credential
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate BLS/CPR certification within six (6) months of employment
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Nevada Driver license within six (6) months of employment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Maternal Child Health experience preferred
  • Previous Home visiting experience preferred
