The Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service has an exciting opportunity for a Community Fire Safety Officer I to join the Community Fire Safety Division (CFSD) within the City of Abbotsford.
Reporting directly to the Community Fire Safety Officer II (CFSO II), the Community Fire Safety Officer I (CFSO I), is a skilled non-suppression position accountable for administration, inspections, fire and life safety education, and fire investigations in the Community Fire Safety Division (CFSD) within the City of Abbotsford.
This role provides leadership and support within the Community Fire Safety Division, ensuring operational readiness, compliance, and public safety objectives are achieved. Responsibilities include conducting inspections and fire investigations, reviewing plans and permit applications, supporting fire and life safety education initiatives, maintaining equipment and fleet readiness, preparing enforcement documentation, and providing accurate reporting. The position also contributes to continuous improvement, training recommendations, and special projects that support departmental goals and service excellence.
To be considered for this opportunity, you must possess:
- Grade 12 or equivalent supplemented by post-secondary or technical courses related to the position.
- 5 years of full-time suppression or equivalent experience.
- NFPA 1020 Ch.9 Fire Officer I Certification
- NFPA 1030 Ch. 7 Fire Inspector Certification
- Incident Command System Level 300
- NFPA 1030 Ch. 9 Fire & Life Safety Educator I Certification
- NFPA 1033 Fire Investigator Certification
- NFPA 1020 Ch. 4 Fire Service Instructor I Certification
- First Responder Level III Certification
- Valid B.C. Driver's License Class 3 with Air Brake Endorsement
The hourly rate of pay is $75.09 per hour.
