Job Title: Communications Lead (B-21 Bed-Down Support)
Position Summary

The Communications Lead supports the Public Information Officer (PIO), Headquarters Air Force Global Strike Command (HQ AFGSC), and Department of Defense (DoD) efforts related to the bed-down of the B-21 Raider program. This senior role focuses on all aspects of communications, information technology (IT), and supporting infrastructure in highly classified environments. The incumbent provides expert guidance on network/IT bed-down design and execution, ensures compliance and security, and delivers analysis and reporting to senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support PIO, HQ AFGSC, and DoD stakeholders on all communications and IT infrastructure matters pertaining to B-21 bed-down efforts.
  • Participate in the design and execution of Network/Information Technology bed-down activities. Provide ongoing analysis and reports on program status, risks, and proposed mitigation solutions.
  • Collaborate with and provide technical guidance to the host wing, PIO, HQ AFGSC, and DoD communications/IT professionals. Ensure the communications bed-down is compliant, effective, timely, and secure.
  • Generate reports and briefings as requested to support guidance and decision-making.

Qualifications - Mandatory ("Shall Have")
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with Multi-Level Secure (MLS) or Special Access Program (SAP) network management and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience with at least two (2) different automated cross-domain security solutions.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with classified information systems.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing System Security Plans (SSPs), including security upgrades and incorporation of emerging higher-level security requirements.
  • Experience in classified IS management, resolving classified IS security incidents, and controlling/recording all incoming and outgoing digital media (including uploading/downloading data across networks at different classification levels).
  • Experience conducting self-assessments using the Management Internal Control Toolset.
  • Experience developing and critically reviewing information assurance and cybersecurity documentation.
  • Experience managing databases, including Microsoft Access, Structured Query Language (SQL), and Oracle.
  • Full experience in all aspects of managing Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Experience developing standardized procedures for account establishment, system maintenance, and system recovery.
  • Hands-on experience designing, installing, and maintaining advanced router and firewall configurations to isolate network traffic and maintain security.
  • Experience developing network Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), conducting audits, performing threat and vulnerability assessments, and applying security-related software tools to manage and control classified information systems.
  • Working knowledge of managing and maintaining Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) infrastructure and Chat applications.
  • Minimum 2 years working knowledge of High Assurance Internet Protocol Equipment (HAIPE) devices.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with information protection network domains, network segmentation, and network management tools.
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing DoD and Air Force technology regulations, services, and instructions to ensure compliance of communications and computer services.

Certification Requirements
Minimum DoD 8570 Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level II certification (examples include CISSP, CISM, CASP+ CE, or GSLC)
Minimum Information Systems (IS) Security Professional certification or equivalent.

Qualifications - Highly Desired
  • Component command (or equivalent) or higher-level managerial experience.
  • DoD 8140.01 IS and Information Assurance (IA) certifications.
  • Special Security Officer (SSO) experience.
  • JSIG-related Risk Management Framework (RMF) implementation experience.
  • Experience integrating nuclear command, control, and communications (NC3) systems.

Required Skills and Attributes
  • Strong ability to advise senior leaders (wing, command, and DoD levels) on complex classified communications and IT issues.
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in secure network design, cross-domain solutions, compliance, incident response, and risk management in SAP/MLS environments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-security environment supporting the strategic bomber program infrastructure.


Pay Range: $125,000 - $160,000 per hour
