POSITION SUMMARY

The Communication Manager is responsible for managing the implementation of Hope Channel International's (HCI) communication strategy across internal, external, and donor-facing platforms. This role manages and coordinates communication materials, including executive communications, video scripts, newsletters, and other organizational messaging, while ensuring consistency with established brand standards. This position also supervises communication staff/contractors and collaborates with other departments and network entities to ensure strategic alignment, clear storytelling, and effective audience communication. This position also supports fundraising and global initiatives through consistent messaging that reflects the organization's mission, values, and the teachings of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

COMPENSATION
  • Full-time exempt position with benefits
  • Remuneration Range: 84-104% ($83k - $98k annually)

SUPERVISOR

VP for Advancement & Communication

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Implements and maintains HCI's brand identity, ensuring consistency in voice, tone, visual standards, and messaging.
  • Develops communication materials that reflect established brand guidelines for the organization and global network partners.
  • Assists with developing the messaging for programs, campaigns, partnerships, and major ministry initiatives in alignment with the VP's strategic direction.
  • Conducts brand research initiatives and recommends improvements to brand perception.
  • Coordinates the implementation and execution of a unified communication strategy across internal, external, and donor-facing platforms.
  • Manages strategic communication with the global Hope Channel Network, including the development, production, and distribution of Hope Pulse.
  • Develops and coordinates regular internal communications that keep HCI staff, leadership, and global partners informed.
  • Evaluates communication effectiveness and recommends improvements based on performance data and stakeholder feedback.
  • Prepares executive communication materials including talking points, keynote scripts, press releases, and leadership correspondence for review and approval.
  • Collaborates with the Advancement team to develop high-impact donor communications including appeal letters, newsletters, and impact reports.
  • Maintains HCI's global story bank by gathering and developing stories from network entities for fundraising campaigns, board reports, and organizational storytelling.
  • Represents HCI at domestic and global events as needed.
  • Assists with reviews independent contractor agreements to ensure they are properly submitted and executed
  • Assists with monitoring the Communication department's finances and works with the Finance department to ensure compliance, reconciliation, and reporting accuracy.
  • Works closely with marketing, advancement, and global network partners to ensure coordinated outreach aligned with HCI's mission.
  • Must be a member in regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  • Must maintain a regular and reliable attendance schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in development, marketing or communications related fields required. Appropriate successful work experience may be acceptable in lieu of scholastic requirements.
  • Four or more years successful relevant work experience is required to gain the skills and knowledge to perform job duties.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles and policies of the General Conference and beliefs of the Church. Knowledge of church structure and organization.
  • Ability to understand and clearly communicate the vision, mission and priorities of Hope Channel Inc.
  • Ability to take appropriate initiative and manage all phases of assigned projects/events.
  • Proven skills in networking and building strategic collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize projects.
  • Strong multiple project management and organizational skills, interpersonal skills and be highly adaptable.
  • Strong computer skills with the MS Office Suite (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, etc).
  • Knowledge and skill in appropriate methods of dealing with human behavior in various circumstances.
  • Ability to perform administrative functions; develop long- and short-term plans and programs to effectively evaluate work accomplishments; establish and maintain effective relationships with internal/external personnel.
  • Advanced command of English language skills including proficiency in verbal and written forms.
