Full Job Description

The Commissioning Engineer I is responsible for supporting the creation of complete project commissioning plans, resourcing plans, and execution of commissioning activities based on a clear understanding of the owner, facility and equipment functional requirements.

Plans include sequenced activities, schedules, and documents, as well as conducting on-site/jobsite execution and auditing of jobsite commissioning activities. The ideal candidate must be proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite, the ability to understand one-lines, schematics & drawings is necessary, knowledge of electrical terminology and components is necessary, knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) is required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

Experience: 3 to 8 years of related experience

or

Experience: 5 to 12 years of electrical commissioning experience

Travel: 100%

Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with Preconstruction Managers and Project Managers at the beginning of projects to define commissioning requirements and establish plans to complete commissioning documentation and other deliverables.
  • Assists with creating LOTO plans and start-up scripts.
  • With direction from upper-level Commissioning Engineer, completes detailed procedures and checklists to document the equipment performs to the specifications and the equipment is integrated into a functioning system.
  • Assists Commissioning Site Lead with establishing structure, training, and implementing LOTO and start-up scripts.
  • Conducts field surveys.
  • Collects and enters data to ensure that equipment conforms to operational standards and requirements.
  • Provides support material or reports to Project Managers and commissioning team as required.
  • Provides reports that documents the equipment functions per the project specifications and requirements.
  • Provides support for field commissioning activities through research and addressing needs during the commissioning process.
  • Provides guidance to office and field teams to ensure start-up activities comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Works with equipment providers to troubleshoot installed equipment during start-up, testing, and commissioning.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
