Commercial Project Manager- Industrial and Construction vertical

What you will do for Siemens Smart Infrastructure:

The Commercial Project Manager (CPM) / Project Controller is responsible for commercial aspects related to customer contracts-from the sales phase to execution, to project completion. Responsibilities encompass sales controlling, performance measurement, planning, forecasting, and reporting. The CPM will partner with Customers, Suppliers, Project Managers, Engineers, Sales, Procurement, Legal Finance colleagues, and internal and external Auditors

The role is based in Peachtree Corners, Georgia (Greater Atlanta area) or can be remote for qualified candidates.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a Commercial Project Manager, Vertical Lead to join our team. The qualified candidate will possess a bachelor's Finance/Accounting or related business field work minimum of 4 years working in a finance role. The candidate must have a strong business acumen, communication skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and provide financial leadership in this role. The position reports to the CPM Manager- Industrial & Construction Vertical

Responsibilities

Project Controlling:
  • Full ownership of project P&L responsibility and cash flow performance
  • Responsibilities including profitability monitoring and ensure cost over-runs are addressed
  • Lead project status reviews and NCC Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to ensure feedback is provided to key stakeholders.
  • Prepare accurate Forecast of Profit and Loss Statement, Statement of Financial Position (balance sheet), and Cash Flow on a yearly and monthly basis analyzing and keeping record of FC assumptions to explain deviations to make sure forecast goals are attained.
  • Collaborate with Factory/Operations to ensure profitability deviations between planned and actual cost are identified and corrective measures are executed.

Risk Management:
  • Proficient understanding of Commercial Contracts to ensure risks are identified and lead the team in risk mitigation measures
  • Partner with key stakeholders in identifying, reporting, avoiding or mitigating non-conformance costs; supports the implementation of lessons learned into own project and the organization in general.
  • Active management of risk registry to ensure financial recognition of business exposure.

Commercial:
  • Ensure effective communication with all relevant internal and external stakeholders such as Business Management, customers, suppliers.
  • Actively participate in commercial negotiations with customer taking the lead from the commercial perspective and ensuring price calculations and proposals are beneficial to Siemens.
  • Ensuring proactive management of backlog, optimization of milestone schedule to maximize free cash flow.
  • Lead and/or partner in dispute management.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

Basic:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or related Business degree.
  • CPM Certification Level C or Small Project S
  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading POC projects in financial/commercial capacity.
  • Knowledge of Accounting principles in alignment with Financial Reporting Guidelines, International Financial Reporting Guidelines and US GAAP.

Preferred
  • Solid understanding of Percentage of Completion accounting method and project controlling requirements (accurate risk and opportunity management, currency management).
  • Experience in Financial Planning and Controlling.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in contract negotiations (customer change orders and claims as well as negotiations with vendors).
  • Ability to read and interpret contract conditions.

The pay range for this position is $74,970 - $128,520 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
