Full Job Description
The Portfolio Manager performs as the gateway keeper to new Commercial & Industrial loan deals, and existing commercial loan relationships. They collaborate closely with the Commercial Relationship Manager/Sales Officer to better understand the client needs, historical cash flow data related to the performance of the company's past, and industry data to qualify the commercial clients loan requests. The Portfolio Managers helps to facilitate the administration of new and existing loan accounts associated with our internal administrative team. With existing loan clients, they monitor the deal to make sure the commercial loan is performing to the standard to which the loan is underwritten, identify additional expansion opportunities, monitoring the covenants, past due payments report, and any exceptions. Another key responsibility is supporting the commercial underwriting pipeline, both new and existing loan business. Growth is important for the Portfolio Manager, whether it is staying credit focused or moving into a client facing role. Playing the role of problem solver for both clients and internal customers is key both for internal growth as well as the commercial bank's loan growth.

How you will spend your time:
  • You will manage and monitor the commercial portfolio, recognizing and managing early warning signs for the portfolio on a recurring basis, which may include but are not limited to the following: analyze borrower/guarantor financial performance upon receipt of reporting requirements , either monthly, quarterly, or annually. Fully analyze and confirm borrowing base and financial covenant compliance, analyze payment performance benchmarks and perform regular financial reviews to ensure the client loan is performing to standards as underwritten.
    Utilizing Microsoft Excel and Word, you will underwrite new and existing loan business, dissecting client relationships, trends, collateral short falls, cash flow, business and industry lists, to ensure the business checks out for a potential commercial loan.
    You will work closely with administrative staff to ensure all of the proper loan documentation is in place from a compliance perspective.
    You will provide recurring customer service to existing and prospective clients either through joint sales calls with Relationship Managers or direct correspondence with clients to ensure clarity to the loan relationship.

• 5+ years commercial banking experience including credit underwriting.
• Current valid driver's license.
• Demonstrates strong excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
• Demonstrates strong knowledge and understanding in how to identify and process maturing loans, line renewals, term loans that need to be extended, how loans can be restructured, approval process, change terms, etc.
• Demonstrates strong level of understanding of credit underwriting.
• Demonstrates strong knowledge of bank products, services, and bank operations.
• Demonstrates ability to interpret policies/procedures, loan contracts, and understanding of credit reports, financial statements and loan documents.
• Demonstrates strong analytical skills.
• Demonstrates ability to be self-starter, show initiative, and transfer knowledge to less experienced peers.
• Demonstrates strong proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Demonstrates knowledge of commercial lending software.

Bonus points if:
• 8 years commercial banking experience including credit underwriting.
• Ability to prospect and network at various levels within a company.
• Product training.

Compensation Range:
$81,864 - $120,406
