Full Job Description
Lead Developer, Commercial Performance

What this job involves

The Lead Developer transforms raw and unstructured data into polished, leadership-ready output - and owns that path end to end. You'll be the senior technical developer who ingests data into our cloud environment, wrangles complicated and often messy source data into shape, models it, and builds it into Power BI products that leadership can act on with confidence.

You'll join a newly formed performance analysis team made up of seasoned professionals who work directly with our stakeholders and end users to derive actionable, data-led insights to make positive impacts on client account performance. The leadership team owns the business problem and the stakeholder relationships and you'll provide the necessary deep technical firepower.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role. Seniority here means autonomy and judgment on hard problems - you can take an ambiguous ask and difficult data and return something trustworthy and finished, with minimal hand-holding. The right person won't stay boxed into pure execution - as trust builds, so will your ownership of how we do this work and where it goes.

What You'll Do

To start, the team will supply direction and context and help shape the approach while you focus on execution. Over time, you'll take greater ownership of the data process and its outputs - how the data is structured, how our solutions are built, and where they go next. The technical bar is high from day one; the ceiling is higher. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Ingest data from a range of source systems into our cloud repository, building reliable, repeatable pipelines.
  • Transform, clean, and model complex and imperfect data using Databricks.
  • Design and build robust data models that hold up as sources and requirements change.
  • Develop polished, intuitive Power BI reports and dashboards that turn that data into clear answers for a leadership audience.
  • Own quality end to end - rigorous QA, data validation, and attention to detail so that every output is accurate, consistent, and defensible.
  • Carry work through the full technical lifecycle - from raw source to published, documented, leadership-ready product - largely independently.
  • Partner closely with the Commercial Performance Directors to understand what each piece of work is really for, and translate that into the right technical solution.

What We're Looking For

Must-haves
  • Strong hands-on fluency with Databricks for data processing, transformation, and analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience ingesting data within an Azure cloud environment and building dependable data pipelines.
  • Excellent data transformation and manipulation skills.
  • Exceptional QA and attention to detail - this is a defining trait of the role, not a nice-to-have. Your work should be dependable requiring minimal re-checking.
  • Tolerance for ambiguity - ability to take a vague ask and hard data through to a finished output independently with sound technical judgment when there's no spec to follow.
  • Strong SQL for querying and transformation; Python for data processing and analytics.
  • AI fluency - familiarity with building MCP servers, connectors, and integrations, ideally in code. You should be comfortable working with Claude Code.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Workflow automation (e.g. Power Automate).
  • Version control and DevOps practices (e.g. Git, Azure DevOps).
  • Degree in a data, analytics, computer science, or related field -
  • 5+ years equivalent hands-on experience.

How We Work
  • Location: You can be based anywhere in the U.S. between the Eastern and Pacific time zones. Real-time overlap with the team during the working day is a genuine requirement, not a formality - this is a close, collaborative working relationship.
  • We work across several areas of the business. The good news is the data is broadly similar across those verticals, so you don't need prior experience in any one of them - the skills transfer. What matters is that you're adaptable and curious.
