About the roleResponsibilities in the commercial lending manager role include:
Develop new business, underwriting, structuring, and closing of commercial loans, as well as maintaining and servicing the loan portfolios.
Represent the credit union in its market areas through active participation in community affairs.
Achieve loan growth, deposit, and service objectives to meet organizational goals.
Accountable for department's loan portfolio quality and compliance.
What you'll do- Deliver outstanding service in alignment with the Credit Unions Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Ensure on-going soundness of commercial portfolios through accurate evaluation and identification of loan risk on a periodic basis. Maintain accurate and complete credit files and participate in and supervise collection of past due loans. Monitor business, and economic developments within assigned areas to promote and develop new business leads, with active involvement in community, charity organizations, civic clubs, and corporate functions.
- Establish and administer policies and procedures to ensure compliance with various regulatory, investor, government, and corporate requirements. Assist in training, motivating, and directing the activities of loan servicing or operational personnel to ensure procedures are properly and efficiently conducted. Responsible for reporting to various agencies as required.
- Act as liaison with IBS during the underwriting process to assure a timely and seamless process for commercial loan members. Also acts as underwriter for all internally processed loans with approval by authorized person or committee. Provides guidance to staff regarding risk, structure, pricing, and financial options. Conduct independent analysis of potential and existing businesses, including gathering financial and general business information from prospects and existing members, and performing financial analyses needed to determine what services and products should be promoted.
- Assist management with developing, proposing, gaining acceptance for, and implementing strategic plans designed to meet the credit union's long-term commercial services objectives.
- Generate new deposit and loan accounts consistent with credit union goals and objectives that contribute to the desired mix of loan type, profitability, risk, quality, and growth. Oversee an on-going business development plan with the support of branch personnel, taking qualified leads through the sales process, collaborating with the member and internal team to build a profitable winning solution.
Qualifications- Five to ten years of similar or related experience preferred.
- A college degree in a related discipline or equivalent is preferred.
- Motivating or influencing others is a material part of the job. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. The role requires a significant level of trust or diplomacy
- Must have working knowledge of regulations affecting commercial lending.
- Must have strong analytical skills for credit and risk assessment, and have excellent verbal and written skills.
- May require interaction with members via video, requiring excellent verbal skills, strong listening skills, proper grammar and tone of voice, and professional appearance.
