Position Summary

The Collaboration Administrator, Purview will be responsible for the governance, permissions, security, compliance, and lifecycle management for the Microsoft Purview Suite.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Designs and implements data governance and compliance solutions using the Microsoft Purview suite
  • Develops and manages data classification schemas, sensitivity labels, and retention policies to protect and govern corporate data throughout its lifecycle
  • Configures and administer Microsoft Purview Information Protection (MPIP) to prevent data loss and ensure secure collaboration
  • Leads eDiscovery and audit investigations using Purview's advanced tools, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Manages the data catalog in Microsoft Purview, ensuring data assets are properly cataloged, curated, and easily discoverable
  • Collaborates with business stakeholders and IT teams to define data governance policies and translate them into technical solutions within Purview
  • Monitors the compliance posture using the Purview compliance portal, report on key metrics, and manage alerts to remediate potential risks
  • Provides subject matter expertise and training to end-users and other IT staff on data governance best practices and the use of Purview tool
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field, or 3+ years of equivalent experience in an IT role focused on systems administration, security, or compliance
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering a Microsoft 365 environment, with at least 1 year of that experience directly involving the configuration of security or compliance policies (e.g., DLP, retention, sensitivity labels, eDiscovery).
  • Demonstrated understanding of core data governance principles and how they are applied within a technology platform
  • Expert-level proficiency in the Microsoft Purview portal, with deep experience implementing and managing the full suite of data governance and compliance solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting integrated data protection solutions by leveraging the interplay between Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Purview.
  • Proficiency with the Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) to automate compliance actions, reporting, and data governance workflows.
  • Strong proficiency in PowerShell for M365, specifically for automating administrative tasks and reporting on security and compliance status.
  • Experience using the Microsoft Graph API to programmatically interact with and manage security and compliance services

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrable experience in Purview administration, including architecture and permissions management.
  • Proven experience supporting and managing a broad range of Microsoft 365 products.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement end-to-end data protection by integrating Microsoft Purview's data classification and governance policies with Microsoft Defender's threat detection and enforcement capabilities
  • Experience with coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training for end-users
  • Microsoft Security & Compliance Certifications, such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS-102) or Microsoft Certified: Information Protection and Compliance Administrator Associate (SC-400).
  • Experience extending data governance to non-M365 data sources using Microsoft Purview's multi-cloud and on-premises connectors (e.g., Azure, AWS, on-prem file servers).
  • Demonstrated experience developing complex compliance automation workflows using Power Automate with security triggers or the Graph API.
  • Experience leading a data-centric project, such as a large-scale content migration with a focus on post-migration data governance and classification.
  • Proven ability to translate complex regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) into practical, automated policy enforcement within Microsoft Purview
  • Able to present complex technical information clearly to a non-technical audience
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (in English)
  • Able to work effectively in a culturally diverse team environment
