Full Job Description
Under the direction of the Senior COE Manager, the COE Manager I - Technology is responsible for maximizing the agility and operational excellence of the COE Technology team, including the support of acquisitions, divestitures, and special projects, and training for all Land staff. This individual directs the team's work to optimize Land and Land Administration processes through automation, system enhancements, reporting, and emerging technology such as AI. This individual must have advanced knowledge of Land operations, administrative processes, and the technology and systems that support them.

ESSENTIAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leads the Technology COE team in handling and prioritizing goals, special projects, and initiatives, including acquisitions and divestitures
  • Oversees the team's automation portfolio, ensuring existing automation solutions are monitored and issues are resolved timely, with extended outages communicated to Land and Land Administration
  • Directs the evaluation, piloting, and implementation of AI-enabled tools and capabilities (e.g., intelligent document processing, workflow automation, data analytics) that improve the efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity of Land and Land Administration processes
  • Oversees system enhancement efforts, ensuring business requirements from Landmen, Land Techs, Lease Records Analysts, Division Orders Analysts, Owner Relation Specialists and Land Administration are translated into technical specifications and that enhancements are designed, tested, and deployed
  • Oversees development and maintenance of SQL reports, Power BI dashboards, and other reporting tools supporting land and land admin processes
  • Oversees system administration and support activities, ensuring system issues and data integrity errors are investigated and resolved in coordination with IT, external system support, and internal stakeholders
  • Oversees quality assurance, data validation, and user acceptance testing (Audit/SOX Controls) on system changes prior to deployment
  • Oversees technology and data support for due diligence on company acquisitions and divestitures, including data migration, validation, and system integration
  • Serves as the primary liaison between Land/Land Administration/Lease Records/Division Orders/Owner Relations teams and IT/technology teams on system projects, ensuring end users are supported through new tools, enhancements, and process changes
  • Coordinates with Land and Land Admin leadership in functional training, technical skill development, and career path mapping for the technology team
  • Executes change management methods to ensure new tools, processes, and systems are adopted and utilized by the Land and Land Admin teams
  • Seeks opportunities for continuous improvement, demonstrating a mindset toward continuously adding value
  • Helps act on and support the agility needed within the Land and Land Admin teams, required to meet fluctuating demand in the number of resources
  • Conducts business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned

COMPUTER/SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS
  • Highly proficient with the use of all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with industry/company related software (e.g., SAP, Quorum, eCalendar, QQM, WellMaster, Salesforce, and other internal applications).
  • Advanced understanding of SAP and Quorum Land system architecture and configuration.
  • Proficient in data analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI and SQL, and familiarity with AI-enabled tools used to support Land and Land Administration technology initiatives.

ROLE-SPECIFIC TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Advanced understanding of Quorum Land system and SAP architecture, configuration, and the ability to guide enhancement, automation, and reporting projects across the technology team
  • Working knowledge of AI-enabled tools and capabilities (e.g., intelligent document processing, workflow automation, data analytics) and their application to Land and Land Administration processes
  • Ability to guide SQL reporting, Power BI dashboards, and other data analytics tools supporting land and land admin processes
  • Ability to direct system administration, quality assurance, and data validation efforts, including user acceptance testing on system changes prior to deployment
  • Understanding of acquisition/divestiture technology and data integration needs, including data migration and system validation
  • Advanced knowledge of lease and contract provisions and company application thereof

TYPICAL EDUCATION
  • BBA degree in Energy Management, Land Management or other Business degree preferred
  • Certified Division Order Analyst or Certified Professional Lease and Title Analyst preferred
  • Experience or certification in business technology, systems analysis, or data analytics is a plus

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 14 years of related industry experience, including experience leading technology-focused land or land administration initiatives (e.g., automation, system enhancements, reporting, and data analytics)
