Project Overview:Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team of contractors engineering and building the facility. The project is in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.
Job Summary:In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on the project, with specific accountability for coating and insulation operations. You will direct craft activities and work schedules, coordinate subcontract work activities and team development, and ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job-site work rules, and perform within specifications, schedules, and budgets.

Major Responsibilities:Leadership / Supervision
- Supervise and/or direct craft activities as assigned; schedule work to be performed and review work accomplished by each craft.
- Interface with Labor/Industrial Relations for craft recruitment and training programs.
- Review craft time records using established automated tools.
Planning / Productivity
- Responsible for the cost, schedule, and optimization of craft labor and maintaining the overall construction schedule, including the 90-day and four-week look-ahead schedules for labor and equipment.
- Determine workforce requirements and coordinate established area operational plans.
- Coordinate activities with other disciplines or areas and the client's resident representatives, as instructed by construction management.
Safety / Quality
- Champion the cause of the ZERO Accident Philosophy. Ensure that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements, and standards are being complied with within the assigned area of responsibility.
- Inspect the site for unsafe conditions and practices and take appropriate action to correct deficiencies.
- Coordinate safety training in conjunction with the Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) Supervisor.
- Monitor the activities of craft to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
- Monitor installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
- Implement and enforce policies, procedures, and related work rules as established by field construction management.
- Ensure the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractors' performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
Technical
- Work with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals in interpreting engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Oversee engineering solutions with subcontractors, foremen, and craft professionals, and coordinate with Design on constructability issues.
Education and Experience Requirements:Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:- Extensive working knowledge of construction planning, monitoring, and control. Familiar with construction tools and equipment as well as their uses.
- Extensive technical knowledge and experience in coating and insulation operations, to ensure adequate coordination with all stakeholders for smooth and safe execution.
- Proficient in the Microsoft suite for word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Experience managing union craft.
- Heavy industrial U.S. direct-hire construction experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to the area of responsibility.
- Knowledge of safety and relevant OSHA requirements and regulations.
- Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program.
- Excellent customer relations and communication skills.
