Responsibilities

The CNO Consultant provides expert guidance to hospital leadership on nursing operations, patient care services, quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, workforce development, and operational performance. Working closely with executive teams, physicians, and nursing leaders, the consultant assesses current operations, identifies improvement opportunities, and supports implementation of strategic initiatives that enhance patient safety, clinical quality, staff engagement, and organizational effectiveness.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess an active RN license, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Master's degree preferred), current BLS certification, and at least five years of progressive nursing leadership experience in an acute care setting, including oversight of multiple clinical departments. Prior executive nursing leadership experience such as Chief Nursing Officer, Associate CNO, or Vice President of Nursing is required.

 

The ideal consultant demonstrates expertise in nursing operations, regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, staffing optimization, leadership development, and performance improvement. Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with a proven track record of mentoring leaders, improving workforce retention, driving quality and patient safety initiatives, and successfully guiding organizations through regulatory and operational challenges. The consultant must be capable of providing strategic recommendations while fostering collaboration, accountability, and sustainable organizational improvement.

Pay Transparency

Central Maine Healthcare Corporation offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $195,000.00 to $230,000.00. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
