Position SummaryITT Micro-Mode is seeking a Robodrill Setup Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team in El Cajon, CA. This role is responsible for both setup and operation of Robodrill CNC machines to produce small, high-precision components for business-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with this type of machine, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to independently manage setups, troubleshoot issues, and ensure consistent part quality in a fast-paced production environment.
Essential Responsibilities- Set up and operate Robodrill CNC machines to manufacture precision components.
- Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and setup sheets to ensure accurate machining and part conformance
- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machine offsets for each job.
- Perform first-article inspections and make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Monitor machine operations and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve setup and machining issues independently.
- Document setup procedures and best practices for repeatability and training purposes.
- Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and quality personnel to optimize machining strategies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and proactively report mechanical issues.
- Mentor and support junior machinists and operators as needed.
- Participate in Lean, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements- High School diploma or GED required; technical training or certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of CNC machining experience, with at least 3 years operating and setting up Swiss-style CNC machines.
- Strong experience with Citizen, Nakamura, Star, or Tsugami machines.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and GD&T.
- Deep understanding of CNC controls, tooling, and machining principles.
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and process control.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of setup and production outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts or overtime as needed.
Equal Pay Act RangeHourly Range is from $31.53 to $47.11, plus a benefit plan.
