Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Location: Simi Valley, CA (This position is 100% onsite)

Business Unit: Datron

Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off.

Shift: Day shift

Job Description:

The primary purpose of the Machinist position is to program, set up and operate CNC machines to produce precision parts and instruments. Additionally needs to operate manual lathes & milling machines. Performs a variety of manufacturing operations related to fabrication and/or machining of precision parts for manufacturing assembly. The position applies knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. The position does require routine machine maintenance and programming capabilities.

Essential Functions:
  • Program for one off prototype parts or production parts run.
  • Maintains the tools and machines required for optimum job performance.
  • Calculates dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and precision instruments such as micrometers, indicators, calipers, height gages, etc..
  • Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
  • Selects the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
  • Monitors machines during the machining process.
  • Works from drawings, models, work orders, and instructions covering production parts or tooling requirements.
  • Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, or hand tools.
  • Measures, examines, or tests completed units to check for defects and FOD to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit CNC machine control media.
  • Constructs, modifies, or repairs a wide variety of product parts, subassemblies, and related tooling per blueprint and/or ECN, ECO.
  • Other duties may also be assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Proficient in the use of GIBBS CAM 2024 software with a minimum of 5 years' experience.
  • Must be able to work independently, without direction, with all types of processes and prototype development instructions, including prints, sketches, schematics, memos, notes etc.
  • Has their own tools, precision and hand tools.
  • Able to work with minimum supervisory guidance.
  • High School Degree or equivalent required and 5 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years manual and CNC machining experience in a high technology manufacturing environment, including setting up machine tools, lathes, and milling machines.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience reading/interpreting blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds and speeds.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment on research and solution development.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two (2) Year Technical Degree or completion of Relevant Apprenticeship a plus
  • Must have a thorough knowledge in the operation of all metal working tools and machines, and the ability to determine the most efficient and economical methods of producing all materials and hardware related to or used in the construction of dies, fixtures, gauges, gigs, and tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T).

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $58,500 - $108,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
