The Opportunity
As a Cloud Operations Specialist at Blue Cross Life, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of our cloud infrastructure, automation processes, and evolving DevOps practices.
In this role, you will support cloud-based projects, applications, and system integrations while helping improve operational efficiency, scalability, and reliability across the organization. You will work across infrastructure, automation, and operational support activities to help modernize technology practices and strengthen our cloud operations environment.
This role offers the opportunity to broaden your cloud and infrastructure experience, deepen your technical expertise, and contribute to the evolution of operational excellence across Blue Cross Life.
Your every day with us consists of:
Supporting the day-to-day operation and maintenance of cloud services across AWS, M365, data and AI platforms.
Supporting cloud migration initiatives and infrastructure improvement efforts.
Automating routine operational tasks (e.g., instance management, monitoring, reporting).
Supporting cloud-based environments to improve scalability, performance, and reliability.
Contributing to secure and efficient system and network operations.
Supporting the management and optimization of database and data platform technologies.
Collaborating with internal teams, leadership, external service providers, and distributor partners to support operational priorities and continuous improvement.
Creating and maintaining clear technical and operational documentation.
Providing on-call support as required.
What you need to succeed:
Foundational knowledge of DevOps best practices, CI/CD pipelines, SDLC, industry trends, and technical solutions.
Familiarity of technical infrastructure and the software development lifecycle.
Excellent documentation skills.
A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving capability.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a busy technical environment.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and sound judgment skills.
Qualifications
Education: University degree in Computer Science or similar program preferred, or equivalent work experience.
Work Experience:
1 - 3 years of IT experience in service operations and/or development projects.Experience working with AWS or other major cloud platforms.
Strong understanding of network protocols, security, and best practices.
Foundational experience with Bash, Shell, and Python.Experience with data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks; familiarity with AI/ML workflows and services would be an asset.
Experience with AWS Lambda.Experience with GitHub, GitLab, or similar platforms.
Foundational Experience with M365.Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MSSQL.Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce would be an asset.
Certifications:
CompTIA, ITIL, AWS, or similar technology certifications are considered an asset
Cisco CCNA is considered an asset
Work Status: Required to have Permanent Residency or Citizenship of Canada.
Language: Bilingualism (EN/FR) is considered an asset. English is requirement, written and verbal, to provide services to our customers and communicate with internal stakeholders
Pay Range: $73,465 - $91,830
The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Blue Cross Life employees may participate in various performance-based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.
