Duties & ResponsibilitiesClinician Educator - Associate Executive DirectorDescription:CHS is seeking highly trained physicians to provide primary care in the NYC jail system, as well as participate in system-wide education, quality improvement, and population health initiatives.
Clinical duties (primary role):- Provide primary care to patients in jail-based clinics, including:
- Intake evaluation and treatment
- Follow-up on chronic illness
- Provide emergency care with the support of emergency medicine physicians
Physicians work as part of a care delivery team with a strong physician assistant, nursing, mental health, and administrative staff.
Clinical Education duties:Correctional Health Clinician Educators may participate in various quality improvement projects, data analysis, policy development, special projects, and education of clinical staff and trainees. Requirements include:
- Meet monthly with CHS clinician educators to discuss the CHS elective program, clinical education initiatives, and CHS policies and contribute to journal club discussions.
- Directly supervise trainees in clinical care (e.g., medical students and residents).
- Contribute to peer review initiatives that aim to improve the quality of care delivery (e.g., antibiotic usage, referral practices).

Minimum Qualifications1. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital or Health Care Administration, Public Health or a related discipline and five (5) years of high-level responsible experience in Hospital, Business, or Public Administration or a Health Care Administrator in a position of direct responsibility for operations of a major part or all of a, health care setting, including substantial exposure in meeting community health needs; or
2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in "1" above; and six (6)years of high-level experience in areas as described in "1" above.
Department Preferences- Registration to practice medicine in New York State.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine and/or Addiction Medicine
- BLS and ACLS Certification required (training available) and Infection Control Certification
- Federal DEA License
- All other occupational requirements as outlined by CHS Human Resources
- A background in social medicine, social determinants of health, criminal justice advocacy, substance use treatment, primary care and panel management, and/or systems-level quality improvement experience is required.
- Recent publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at academic conferences OR completion of a Master's in Public Health or chief residency OR equivalent leadership or scholarly work.
- Training in an academic medical center interested in teaching and clinical and epidemiologic research.
