Full Job Description
Clinical Quality Consultant

In Brief

We're a rapidly growing startup on a mission to make healthcare proactive by empowering physicians, nurses, and care team members with real-time data to save lives. You'll support product quality for an FDA-cleared, AI-driven clinical platform, from complaint investigation once it's live in hospitals, to the quality system and regulatory record that hold it all together.

About the Role

When a care team asks why an alert did or did not fire, that question comes to our Clinical Production Support team, and answering it well takes real clinical judgment. Clinical case reviews are the largest share of that work and the heart of this role. You will investigate what happened in a given encounter, reach a sound and defensible conclusion, and communicate it clearly to the clinicians and client teams who asked.

Strong clinical reasoning is the foundation. On top of it, you will build a working understanding of how the product behaves, including how flags are generated, how suppression logic works, and how data moves from the EHR into the model. That technical fluency is taught here rather than expected at hire. The same is true of the medical device regulatory side, where you will grow into product complaint handling and, once trained, contribute to the disposition of possible anomalies that gate our releases.

This is a function still being built. Case volume is growing faster than the process around it, so you will be writing and improving the review standards, templates, and escalation paths as much as you follow them.

What You'll Own

Clinical Case Review

Perform clinical case reviews on sepsis alerts: work the encounter record, establish the clinical timeline, determine whether the alert behaved as designed, and produce an internal case review with cited evidence and a recommended next action.

Product & Technical Fluency

Build and apply working knowledge of how the product generates, suppresses, and delivers flags, including the EHR data that drives it, so your conclusions hold up to both clinical and technical scrutiny. Review the AI-assisted triage and classification our tooling performs, including investigation and complaint classification, ticket creation, and draft acknowledgements, and correct them where the clinical facts don't support the output.

Communication & Escalation

Write clear, accurate responses to the clinicians and clinical informatics teams who submitted the case, following our communication standards, which protect patient privacy and avoid giving clinical direction. Own escalation: route issues to the accountable team in data science, engineering, implementation, or clinical, give them the clinical context they need, and drive tickets through to closure rather than handing them off. Send close-out communications and close resolved tickets.

Caseload Management

Manage a concurrent caseload against response commitments: track status, prioritize by clinical and client risk, and keep the queue current without prompting.

Pattern Recognition

Look across cases, not only at them. Identify recurring patterns such as mapping failures, interface latency, or suppression gaps, quantify how often they occur, and raise them with the owning team before clients do.

Process Ownership

Create and improve case review templates, evidence standards, response language, triage rules, and escalation paths. Document what you build so the next reviewer reaches the same conclusion from the same facts.

Complaint Handling

Support product complaint handling: document complaints and assemble the clinical evidence a complaint review requires, and, once trained, contribute to the disposition of possible anomalies as part of the release process required of a regulated device.

What You'll Bring
  • Sound judgment and the ability to reason from vitals, labs, medications, and documentation to a defensible conclusion
  • Clear written communication suited to clinician and clinical informatics audiences
  • A record of getting things done without close supervision, in an environment where the process is still taking shape
  • Evidence that you fix processes rather than work around them, something you found broken, changed, and documented so it stayed fixed
  • The ability to learn a technical product quickly and reason about it accurately, including asking the right questions of engineering and data science
  • Fluency with AI tools in daily work, with the judgment to verify their output rather than pass it through
  • Comfort working in a ticket-driven, data-heavy environment, staying organized and accurate across many concurrent cases
  • Genuine interest in learning medical device quality and regulatory practice, including complaint handling

Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience, either:
    • An active RN license and 3+ years of acute care experience, for example ICU, emergency, or rapid response, with strong familiarity with sepsis and clinical deterioration OR
    • Commensurate healthcare experience with ability to understand clinical aspects of sepsis and clinical deterioration
  • Experience with EHRs such as Epic or Cerner, or work in clinical informatics, clinical research, or clinical decision support
  • Exposure to SEP-1 or sepsis bundle abstraction and quality reporting
  • Familiarity with medical device quality standards such as QMSR or ISO 13485, or clear eagerness to build that knowledge
  • Comfort reading structured clinical data exports and spreadsheets
  • Authorization to work in the United States
