About the Position: This position is located in Schofield Barracks, Desmond T Doss Health Clinic in Hawaii.

Duties

Help

  • Serve as a Clinical Psychologist who utilizes experience and knowledge with both psychological and medical aspects of traumatic brain injury (TBI) for the treatment of associated symptoms.
  • Employ psychological techniques for the treatment of traumatic brain injury symptoms and psychological conditions.
  • Provide patients with psychological and behavioral techniques and strategies that help them manage and cope better with chronic pain.
  • Utilize evidence-based treatment modalities for the treatment of comorbid conditions such as Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.
  • Formulate diagnostic and treatment plans and recommendations for treatment teams consisting of physicians, mid-level providers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, nursing staff and others.
  • Formulate outpatient assessments and treatment plans.

  • All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or
    endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires a current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.

Basic Requirements for Clinical Psychologist:

Degree:
Successful completion of a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. Completion of an APA-accredited professional psychologist internship preferred.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below:

Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized Experience: Evaluating and treating patients with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and comorbid conditions using evidence-based modalities (such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy); formulating diagnostic treatment plans; and providing psychological consultation within an interdisciplinary medical team. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
