Title: Clinical Pharmacist

Location:Laguna Hills, CA

Department:Pharmacy

Status:Full Time

Shift:Days

Pay Rate:$84.00/hr.

Position Summary

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with our core values: Integrity, Accountability, Best Practices, Compassion and Synergy. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center's strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.

The Pharmacist is responsible for improving therapeutic outcomes for the patients through safe, rational and cost-effective pharmaceutical care, education, and research. The Pharmacist collaborates with members of the health care team to provide accurate and timely pharmacy services. The Pharmacist maintains competency in drug therapy and disease-state management. The Pharmacist independently manages Medical Center approved Pharmacy regulated therapies and participates in Pharmacy clinical intervention program. The Pharmacist provides drug information to Physicians, Nurses, and other health care workers to improve the quality of medication prescribing and administration. The Pharmacists directs the work of ancillary pharmacy personnel. The Pharmacist educates patients and families to improve compliance with drug therapy.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in an inpatient hospital pharmacy setting with clinical exposure preferred
  • Working knowledge of pharmacokinetic principles preferred
  • History of managing various Pharmacy regulated therapies (e.g., Pharmacokinetics, TPN, anticoagulation) preferred


Education/Licensure/Certification

  • Graduated from an accredited School of Pharmacy required
  • Current California Registered Pharmacist license required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy residency preferred
  • Current Certification from Board of Pharmacy Specialties (e.g., BCPS, BCOP, etc) preferred
