JOB DESCRIPTION
Note: This is a continuous recruitment requisition. We are always looking for experienced Med/Surg-Telemetry RNs to join our units at Hoag Newport Beach, including 5W and Surgical-6. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis for openings across multiple shifts and statuses as needed.
The Clinical Nurse 6 MedSurg role provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act to assigned patients on Medical/Surgical units. The nurse collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of safe, timely and appropriate quality patient care. This includes providing physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional needs, and teaching and discharge needs of the patients assigned. Utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient care needs. Evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed, and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical/legal/medical dilemma decisions. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Clinical Nurses at Magnet designated facilities only require a BSN or that a BSN program is started within one year of hire date and BSN degree is attained within two years of starting the BSN program.
- BSN preferred.
- One year experience in an acute care hospital preferred.
- Additional requirements for specific departments are as follows:
- Surgical 6 6 West: Experience in SUB-ICU required. Experience on Surgical-6 West unit preferred.
License Required
- Registered Nurse in the State of California - Current and in good standing.
License Preferred
Certifications Required
- BLS certification prior to clinical rotation.
- Department specific certification requirements are as follows:
- Surgical (5 West and 6 West): ACLS required.
