Full Job Description
Clinical Laboratory Scientist ( City of Hope National Medical Center; Duarte, CA) : Prepare and process biological specimens for clinical analysis. Perform and report a variety of complex clinical laboratory tests, including, but not limited to, clinical flow cytometry and bone marrow differential according to prescribed protocols and within the established turnaround times. Serve as the subject matter expert on flow cytometry. Perform procedures including selecting flow cytometry panels according to diagnosis and sample analysis using the data analysis software. Stay updated on manual, semi-automated, and automated procedures and techniques. Operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and completeness of recorded results. Prepare and label solutions, reagents, and stains following standard formulas and procedures. Conduct quality control procedures including maintenance, calibrations, and color compensation to support quality assurance efforts. Perform all procedures in compliance with written Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB), American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI), College of American Pathologists (CAP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Joint Commission regulations. Review and report all results with accuracy and completeness. Identify unusual findings and communicate closely with hematopathologists. Perform validation protocols for new instrumentation, reagents, and tests. Assist with data entry and preparation of validation reports. Recognize, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical problems, guiding and assisting others in resolution. Provide training to students and staff.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent, plus two (2) years of experience as a Certified or Licensed Laboratory Scientist or related occupation. Must have a valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.

Must have experience with the following: preparing and processing specimens for analysis; performing clinical flow cytometry procedures with various leukemia and lymphoma flow cytometry panels; analyzing flow cytometry dot plots and gating strategy in relation to patient's diagnosis; QC review and corrective action follow-up; assisting with test validation; and providing training to clinical lab scientists.

S alary: $48.44 - $77.50 per hour ($100,755.20 - $161,200 per year)
