Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

The Clinical Application & Informatics Specialist plays a key role in supporting and optimizing clinical systems, particularly EHR and related applications. This mid-level role combines informatics strategy with hands-on application support and cross-functional collaboration. You'll serve as both a systems expert and a clinical operations partner-helping bridge technology with real-world care delivery.

Informatics & Strategic Enablement:
  • Lead clinical informatics initiatives that support the integration and optimization of EHR and other clinical systems.
  • Collaborate with product, IT, and data teams to ensure clinical requirements are reflected in platform design and functionality.
  • Gather and prioritize provider and clinical staff feedback to support system improvements and user experience enhancements.
  • Contribute to interoperability efforts, including the evaluation of data exchange standards, APIs, and vendor integrations.


Application Configuration & Support:
  • Configure and maintain clinical applications (e.g., Athenahealth, Elation) to align with evolving workflows.
  • Provide tier-2 support for application-related issues and escalate to vendors or IT when needed.
  • Participate in software upgrades, testing, and system validation.
  • Assist in managing vendor relationships and ensuring service-level expectations are met.


Training & Adoption:
  • Develop training materials, job aids, and tip sheets to support user onboarding and change management.
  • Deliver training and go-live support to providers, nurses, and operational staff.
  • Document clinical workflows and maintain system configuration records.


Project Coordination:
  • Support project timelines, testing plans, and implementation checklists for system changes or new tool rollouts.
  • Track KPIs and performance metrics related to system usage and provider satisfaction.
    Participate in informatics and operations meetings to align on organizational goals and identify opportunities for improvement.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Health Informatics, Nursing, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in clinical informatics, clinical application support, or health IT.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and supporting EHR systems; experience with Athenahealth is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, APIs).
  • Excellent communication and change management skills, with experience translating clinical needs into technical solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's preferred.
  • Preferred certifications: CPHIMS, PMP, Athena or Epic certifications, or relevant technical training.


The base pay range for this position is $102,739.00 to $133,560 per year. Pay range may vary depending on work location, applicable knowledge, skills, and experience. This position may be eligible for an annual bonus opportunity and comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Short- and Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off and 401K.
