Responsibilities

The Corporate Clinical Services Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Clinical Informatics Specialist.

The Clinical Informatics Specialist - Clinical Services serves as a key liaison between clinical operations, facility leadership, and corporate stakeholders to support the optimization of clinical applications and workflows across the organization. This role focuses on pre-implementation discovery, implementation support, and post-implementation optimization of clinical systems.

This role partners closely with the CCIO and facility leadership to enhance clinical workflows, drive standardization, ensure alignment with evidence-based practices, and support data-driven decision-making. Responsibilities include testing, training, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of assigned clinical applications. This position serves as a primary resource for clinical staff and may facilitate training, provide subject-matter expertise, lead committees, and develop documentation and workflow artifacts.

Key responsibilities include:

Leads
  • Leads and supports pre-implementation, implementation, and post-implementation optimization activities for clinical applications.
  • Collaborates with CCIO, nursing, clinical, and risk teams to ensure workflows align with standards of care.
  • Develops and monitors metrics and reports in partnership with corporate teams.
  • Designs and supports efficient clinical workflows to improve patient-centered care.
  • Functions as a liaison to facilities to resolve system-related issues.

Communicates
  • Communicates decisions and supporting rationale effectively to UHS corporate and facility staff.
  • Identifies educational needs and designs and implements end-user education; collaborates with the education team and CCIO as appropriate.
  • Solicits user feedback and resolves concerns in a timely manner.
  • Keeps leadership informed on needs, risks, and ongoing initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains communication workflows that exceed customer expectations.
  • Provides clinical design expertise for organizational solutions.

Plans
  • Leads planning, facilitation, and evaluation of improvements to information and communication technologies in collaboration with facility clinical leadership to address interprofessional workflow needs across all care settings.
  • Maximizes application effectiveness by understanding system functionality, configuration options, and available alternatives for software in production.
  • Develops reports and analyzes data to identify trends that drive improvements in organizational performance and clinical outcomes.
  • Develops and recommends modifications to policies and procedures impacted by clinical information systems.
  • Maintains current knowledge of developments in healthcare, evidence-based practice, healthcare informatics, and regulatory requirements.
  • Articulates the impact of new technologies on existing organizational processes and workflows.

Other Duties
  • Provides on-call, after-hours support for urgent issues as needed or required.
  • Upholds and promotes Service Excellence principles.
  • Maintains positive and collaborative relationships with facility and corporate personnel.
  • Monitors the resolution of maintenance or enhancement issues assigned by the UHS Customer Support Center.
  • Supports other UHS facilities, as assigned, during training, go-lives, and ongoing system support activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5-8 years of related clinical and application workflows experience within behavioral health setting is required.
  • Experience leading projects and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of clinical data analytics, electronic medical record (EMR) optimization, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oracle/Cerner experience is preferred.
  • Expertise in behavioral health clinical workflows.
  • Strong change management, training, and end-user adoption strategy experience.
  • Ability to interpret clinical data, analyze, and develop reports to support decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve system, workflow, and process issues.

Skills
  • Exceptional ability to train clinical and medical staff at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in developing workflow documentation, project materials, educational content, and analytics reports.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with facility leadership to monitor and enhance EMR related clinical outcomes.
  • Excellent organization, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives with minimal supervision.

License or Registration Requirements: Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensure is required.

Training
  • Ongoing training is required to maintain current job skills.
  • Clinical training and experience within behavioral healthcare required.

Travel Requirements: Ability to travel domestically within the United States approximately 50-75%, based on project phase and organizational needs.
