DESCRIPTION

The Clinical Effectiveness (CE) Specialist partners with health system leaders, physicians, clinicians, and service line teams to improve patient care delivery, reduce length of stay, and optimize patient throughput. The CE Specialist uses extensive knowledge of quality data analysis and improvement (QI) concepts, methodologies, and data collection and abstraction techniques, including DMAIC and Lean Six Sigma, to analyze clinical workflows, identify opportunities to reduce variation, and develop standardized processes across service lines.

The CE Specialist leads and supports improvement initiatives from assessment through implementation and evaluation. This includes conducting Gemba analyses, developing and interpreting quality and patient safety data, creating reports for data analysis and discussion dashboards, facilitating service line workgroups, and using collaborating with our Population Health Analysts and Epic Team for development of Epic tools such as Care Paths and Order Sets to support standardized care. The Specialist monitors key performance indicators and works with stakeholders to ensure improvements are measurable, sustainable, and integrated into daily practice.

As part of a growing enterprise-wide team, the CE Specialist will have the opportunity to take ownership of assigned service lines and improvement priorities while partnering with leaders and multidisciplinary teams to drive meaningful improvements in care delivery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Nine (9) years of relevant experience OR a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or other relevant healthcare profession AND five (5) years or more of relevant clinical or quality analysis and Quality Improvement (QI) experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of QI standards, clinical chart review and abstraction, and regulatory requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of QI models, tools, and techniques, including collection, abstraction, validation, analysis, reporting of data, and use of performance and benchmark indicators.
  • Advanced organizational and project management skills, with the ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of highly complex information and responsibilities, to quickly assess problems, and to develop and implement timely and effective solutions.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with all levels of clinical and technical staff and representatives of external regulatory agencies and for mentoring lower-level QI staff.
  • Advanced ability to effectively convey complex clinical, technical, and educational information both verbally and in writing, and to produce high-quality reports, documentation, and presentations.
  • Advanced knowledge of various administrative and business software packages, and of the specialized applications for quality data management.
  • Advanced skills to influence and persuade staff, management, and clinicians at all levels and across departments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in a related healthcare field.
  • Critical Care RN experience.
  • Experience in quality improvement, patient safety, or performance improvement within an academic medical center, hospital, or complex healthcare system.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience applying AI-enabled solutions to extract, analyze, and derive actionable insights from EHRs and other healthcare data sources.
  • Experience applying Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC, or similar performance improvement methodologies.
  • Experience using Epic Care Paths, Order Sets, or similar tools to support clinical standardization.
  • Experience improving length of stay, patient throughput, care standardization, clinical outcomes, or other health system performance metrics.
  • Experience conducting Gemba analyses and leading multidisciplinary improvement initiatives.
  • Experience presenting complex clinical and performance data and recommendations to leadership, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
