Full Job Description
The Role

We are hiring a Northern California Clinical Director to lead the care delivery teams, programs, and systems across our Los Altos and San Mateo clinics. Reporting to the Regional VP, you will partner with operational leaders to steer an interdisciplinary care team that includes psychiatrists, therapists, dietitians, health coaches, and member support specialists. This is a full-time, onsite role splitting time between our Los Altos and San Mateo clinics.

What You Will Do
  • Guide and support teams in day-to-day management with an eye toward scaling without compromising quality; craft strategic plans to evolve current procedures
  • Actively oversee admissions and directly manage the intake process, assisting in the development of individualized treatment plans and level-of-care transitions
  • Work hand-in-hand with the CMO, Medical Directors, and Clinical Operations Team to create, refine, and implement innovative processes
  • Lead and supervise an interdisciplinary team; conduct daily care coordination meetings to oversee treatment plans
  • Directly engage in the care of complex patients, offering support and intervention as needed
  • Devise and implement strategic initiatives in partnership with clinical and operational stakeholders to elevate quality of care and cost-efficiency
  • Proactively identify and address issues and document lessons for future processes

What You'll Have
  • Unrestricted registered license as a Psychologist, LCSW, LMFT, or LPC in the state of California
  • Prior experience working with SMI, other mental health challenges, and addiction; experience creating personalized treatment plans
  • Holistic perspective on health and ability to work effectively in various settings with diverse populations
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort in one-on-one or group settings
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and negotiation capacity
  • Well-organized approach with experience in planning and designing events and activities
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Familiarity with the medical, mental health, and social service systems in the Bay Area preferred

What We're Building

As a clinician at Amae, you are not adjacent to this work. You are essential to it.
  • A national care delivery model for the highest-acuity patients in behavioral health.
  • Precision medicine for SMI. Individualized treatment informed by multimodal clinical, behavioral, and social data.
  • A clinical operating system that puts longitudinal data, real-time patient signals, and purpose-built tools into a single decision layer for care teams.
  • Frontier science and measurement: defining and validating the outcomes frameworks that this field has never had. Hospitalizations avoided, days stable, functional improvement, and more.
  • A collaboration model with the country's leading health systems that proves coordinated SMI care can work at scale.

Compensation & Benefits

Amae Health is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Base salary range for this role is 135,000 - $155,000. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage. Parental leave and programs built around well-being. We'll share specifics during the interview process.

If you want to practice at the top of your license, learn from the best in academic medicine, contribute to research that is defining a new field, and do it all inside a team that was actually built for this work, we'd like to talk.

What We Value
  • We center care in all we do. Empathy is not a brand value. It's how we make clinical decisions, build products, and treat each other.
  • We challenge convention. The existing system is the problem. We question it, we test alternatives, and we move with urgency when something works.
  • We take the work seriously, not ourselves. High standards and humanity are not in tension. We hold a hard bar for quality while leaving room for humor and levity.
  • Your job isn't done until the job is done. We close gaps, we follow through, and we don't hide behind titles or org charts.
  • We win together and fail together. We own outcomes as a team. We learn fast. We don't do blame.
  • We hustle with humility. Speed matters. So does integrity. We assume best intent and stay grounded in the mission.
