Job Summary

Collects, processes, and performs clinical laboratory testing on specimens from neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Is responsible for quality assurance and instrument maintenance. Reports to the Clinic Laboratory Supervisor.

Compensation

We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is MLS $32.45-$45.81; MLT $23.71 - $33.47. This range reflects the base salary for this position.

Key Accountabilities
  • Collects blood specimens and evaluates the acceptability of both blood and non-blood specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Accessions and processes specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing.
  • Performs waived, routine and high complexity laboratory tests within all areas of the laboratory.
  • Reports patient test results according to established laboratory policies.
  • Performs quality control testing and instrument checks.
  • Performs staff competency evaluations.
  • Performs instrument preventative maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Performs clerical functions associated with each laboratory area.
  • Practices Universal Body Substance Precautions.

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of a bachelor's degree accredited program in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or Clinical Laboratory Science
  • MLS/MT American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certified (or obtain within 6 months of start date)
  • Must be enrolled in NH+C RQI program for BLS certification and complete the requirements within 90 days of enrollment. Must remain current (complete quarterly assignments prior to the end of each calendar quarter).
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently to ensure safe and effective communication in a healthcare environment.
  • Initial Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI) within six months.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of clinical blood banking, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, molecular biology, and microbiology
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to receive and carry out directions.

Schedule
  • 40 hours per two-week pay period
  • Monday-Friday: 8-12-hour shifts varying between 7:00am-8:00pm
  • Weekends: Every sixth, 8:00am-4:30pm or 8:30am-1:30pm
