What Your Job Will Be Like

Organization 05475, Missile Systems, is currently seeking an Engineering Systems Integration/Implementation Professional to join their team in support of Missile and Strike Systems Research and Development Activities!

The selected candidate will support rocket motor, ordnance, and integrated missile systems design and flight test operations for the organization. They will also support fielding and flight test operations with a focus on solid rocket motor and supporting systems integration and test.

On any given day, one may be called upon to:
  • Perform fabrication oversight and assembly/integration of flight hardware
  • Plan, analyze, integrate, implement, and test energetic systems, perform systematic studies, and apply engineering fundamentals to implement engineering designs and solutions
  • Conduct rocket motor/ordnance certification testing, procurement, and inventory maintenance operations
  • Operate within a dynamic, team-focused environment
  • Maintain a diverse array of industry and government relationships and support partner and remote flight test activities
    Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite.


Salary Range

$102,400 - $199,700

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

  • A Bachelor's degree in relevant field, plus 5 years directly related experience; OR equivalent experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job
  • Experience with Solid Rocket Motor design and function, including Igniter, Initiator, Propellant, Insulator, Case, and Nozzle Design, and Supporting Systems Integration
  • Experience with flight ordnance and energetics systems, including staging and hardware separation mechanisms, thrust vector control systems, attitude control systems, flight termination safety, and booster arming and firing systems.
  • Explosives Training and Handling, including experience as an explosive's worker at a DOE/Sandia facility or similar government facility
  • An active DOE L-level security clearance; or other equivalent active security clearance such as DOW Secret and ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance

  • Identifying and implementing engineered and administrative controls for explosive operations

About Our Team

The Missile Systems Department supports flight test programs across center 05400 and the laboratories at large in both DoD and DOE mission spaces. We provide expertise in vehicle mechanical and ordnance system design, implementation, and test for a wide range of rocket-based flight systems. Our staff members are integral flight test project team members active in all aspects of vehicle design, mission planning, and post-test analysis. We maintain relationships with active national test ranges such as KTF, PMRF, WFF, WSMR, RTS, VAFB, KSC, as well as numerous government and industry partners related to ordnance and propulsion production and storage. We also cooperate with numerous commercial launch providers in support of a national defense related mission set. Sponsors include US Navy, Army, and Air Force, the MDA, DTRA, DARPA, NASA, as well as private industry.
