What Your Job Will Be LikeThe Communications and Network Systems organization is seeking a motivated and detail oriented COMSEC & Networking Technician (job title: LAN/WAN Support Technologist) to support a variety of national security-focused programs. This role will contribute to the implementation and sustainment of COMSEC policies to safeguard sensitive communications.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Administer, implement, and perform day-to-day management of the COMSEC program to ensure reliable and secure connectivity for Sandia's mission-critical programs
- Maintain accurate records of accountable material and oversee the implementation of Federal program requirements
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot encrypting devices in partnership with networking subject matter experts to ensure secure, reliable communication systems.
- Coordinate with designated Federal officials and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance across security programs.
- Manage physical and electronic keying material, communications security accounts, and audit records, and databases
- Create and update COMSEC databases and ensure compliance with Federal directives
- Monitor network health, troubleshoot bottlenecks or off-normal behavior, and intervene to restore optimal operation
- Support security audits and contribute to corrective actions and documentation.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range$88,900 - $171,900
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require- High school diploma plus three or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with COMSEC security programs.
- Active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent DOD Top Secret level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire- Hands on experience managing and troubleshooting encrypting devices.
- Active certification within the DOE COMSEC program.
- Customer focused approach to problem solving and stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge of networking concepts and the ability to assess potential networking issues.
- Ability to make sound decisions in complex situations where information may be incomplete.
- Familiarity with government regulations, agency directives, and classified matter protection and control.
- Proficiency with OSI model layers, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN protocols, encryption technologies, and secure hardware configurations.
- Experience with operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting local area networks and wide area networks in support of secure communications.
- Active SCI-level clearance.
