Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Commercial Lines Claims Specialists focusing on mid to high severity liability claims.

  • Review and analyze investigations and claims, setting reserves and authorizing necessary steps with Claims Specialists.
  • Manage complex suit files and technical claims matters to resolution.

Full Job Description
This is a hybrid role reporting our offices in Charlotte-Ballantyne, NC.

What you will do:

You'll be responsible for managing a team of adjusters, including those handling more moderate to complex commercial general liability claims in primarily Southeastern venues, and will provide meaningful coaching and development for the team. As a leader, you will be responsible for executing the strategic direction of the company to ensure your team's operational excellence and exceptional service to our customers. In this position, you will participate in quality assurance to ensure the proper investigation, examination, reserving, settlement and defense of claims. This position requires strong people and project leadership skills, a collaborative mindset, and technical general liability claims handling acumen.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of Commercial Lines Claims Specialists responsible for appropriate coverage determinations and investigation, examination, reserve, settlement, or defense of mid and high severity liability claims.
  • Plan work and assign to all Claims Specialists.
  • Oversee and assume responsibility for all work performed by Claims Specialists, quality of work and schedules; maintain strict follow-up on all active claims; review files, answer technical questions, discuss problems, check out errors and discrepancies and take appropriate remedial action; check and approve independent adjuster's bills and other claim expenses.
  • Review investigations, related forms and reports; analyze and evaluate liability, special damages, defense possibilities, settlement values and coverage questions; set and adjust reserves; extend authorization to Claims Specialists and consult superior regarding claims exceeding his authority.
  • Oversee and handle suit files and claim matters of a complex and technical nature.
  • Review law bulletins, court decisions and is required to have a broad understanding of the law and a basic knowledge of anatomy and medical terms.

What you need:
  • 4 year college degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of moderate to complex GL adjusting work.
  • Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Southeast venues.

Licensing:

Required to obtain your license(s) as an adjuster in the state(s) in which you are assigned to adjust claims. Licensing must be obtained within the timeframe set forth by the Company and must be maintained as needed throughout your employment.

Salary range: $103,300 - $136,400

The final salary to be paid and position within the internal salary range is reflective of the employee's work experience, their geographic location, education, certification(s), scope and responsibilities in the role, and additional qualifications.
