What We DoThe Claims Specialist Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of Claims Specialists who investigate, evaluate, and resolve assigned title insurance claims within established levels of complexity and authority. The Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership, technical guidance, workload management, coaching, and oversight to ensure claims are handled accurately, efficiently, consistently, and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
The Supervisor serves as an escalation point for Claims Specialists and partners with Claims Counsel and Claims leadership to appropriately identify and escalate claims involving significant complexity, legal issues, increased exposure, or matters outside established authority.
Attorney License is required for this role.
What You'll Do:
- Manage a team of Claims Specialists, including resource allocation, workload distribution, staffing, onboarding, training, career development, performance management, and performance evaluations.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight regarding the investigation, evaluation, coverage analysis, documentation, and resolution of assigned title insurance claims.
- Review and provide direction on claims requiring management involvement or approval within established authority levels.
- Ensure claims are handled timely, consistently, and in accordance with Company claims procedures, standards, and applicable authority levels.
- Identify claims involving increased complexity, legal issues, significant exposure, or other circumstances requiring escalation to Claims Counsel or senior Claims leadership.
- Monitor team workloads, productivity, quality, and service levels; identify trends and implement appropriate process or performance improvements.
- Coach and develop Claims Specialists to strengthen technical expertise, judgment, decision-making, and claims-handling capabilities.
- Support consistent application of claims practices and procedures across the team.
- Collaborate with Claims Counsel, Claims leadership, underwriting, operations, and other internal business partners as appropriate to facilitate claim resolution.
- Participate in the development and implementation of claims procedures, training, operational improvements, and other departmental initiatives.
- As appropriate, manage an assigned claims caseload consistent with the incumbent's qualifications, role responsibilities, and established authority.
What You'll Bring:
- Juris Doctor degree required.
- Typically has 4-8 years professional experience in title insurance / title underwriting and in depth knowledge on title insurance claims and resolution.
- Substantial relevant professional experience in title insurance, title underwriting, title claims, or a related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of title insurance claims investigation, evaluation, and resolution.
- Prior leadership, supervisory, team lead, or other experience demonstrating the ability to direct and develop others preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of title insurance, title claims, and claims resolution practices.
- Sound management and people leadership practices.
- Ability to coach and develop employees with varying levels of experience and technical expertise.
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated judgment in evaluating claims and determining when escalation is appropriate.
- Ability to interpret and apply Company policies, procedures, coverage provisions, and established authority levels.
- Strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities, workloads, and deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, senior leadership, underwriting, operations, and other business partners.
Pay Range: $97,700.00 - $130,300.00 Annually
This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
