Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Civil Technologist to join our Group in our Greater Toronto Area (GTA) or Waterloo Ontario, Canada offices. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of technologists and providing technical expertise in civil engineering projects. This position offers a great opportunity to contribute to the success of diverse projects while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
  • Solutions Analysis: Analyze specific problems and issues to find the best solutions. Solutions could be technical or professional in nature.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Operational Compliance: Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Design and Conceptualization: Produce multiple concepts and prototypes to design products/services.
  • Quality Assurance Testing: Carry out a specified range of complex tests; interpret test data to verify that specifications are met and/or to identify remedial actions required to ensure conformance.

Education
  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field.
  • Professional certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or equivalent is preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering design and construction
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant engineering software. Experience with Micro-station, In-Roads, and other Bentley applications is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and build client relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.

The hourly rate range for this position is $34.54-$57.57. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
