Civil Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Civil Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all civil construction activities at an active industrial site. Reporting to the Site Manager, this role ensures that work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards. The Civil Supervisor plays a key leadership role in driving field productivity, maintaining compliance, and supporting successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate daily civil construction activities, including excavation, grading, concrete, foundations, and structural work.
  • Lead and mentor field crews, subcontractors, and craft workers to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work execution.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety policies, site procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and schedules to plan and execute work activities effectively.
  • Coordinate with project management, engineering, and other trades to ensure alignment and resolve field issues.
  • Monitor productivity, track progress, and provide regular updates to the Site Manager.
  • Identify and address potential risks, delays, or conflicts, implementing corrective actions as required.
  • Ensure proper utilization of equipment, materials, and manpower to meet project timelines and budget.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, including labour hours, equipment usage, and site activities.
  • Support quality control processes by ensuring work meets required standards and specifications.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and teamwork on site.
  • Participate in site meetings, safety briefings, and planning sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision or management.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in civil construction, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role within an industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, including earthworks, concrete, and structural foundations.
  • Experience working in heavy industrial environments such as refineries, petrochemical, or oil & gas facilities is preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience supervising crews and subcontractors on active job sites.
  • Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a professional and collaborative approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with construction management systems is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work on-site in Mississauga, ON.
