- Perform structural analysis for gravity, wind, seismic, equipment, piping, operational, thermal, construction, and other applicable loading conditions.
- Evaluate existing structures and develop modifications, repairs, or strengthening designs to support new equipment, piping, electrical systems, instrumentation, and facility improvements.
- Perform civil site design, including grading, drainage, erosion control, excavation, trenching, paving, site access, and restoration plans.
- Develop temporary and permanent shoring, excavation support, trench support, retaining wall, and slope stabilization designs.
- Perform foundation design using geotechnical recommendations, including bearing capacity, settlement, lateral resistance, uplift, and seismic design criteria.
- Review geotechnical reports and coordinate with geotechnical engineers regarding soil conditions, foundation recommendations, groundwater, seismic hazards, and construction considerations.
- Prepare site plans, grading plans, drainage plans, demolition plans, foundation plans, structural details, sections, and construction notes.
- Perform calculations for pipe support reactions, anchor loads, thrust forces, equipment loads, blowdown forces, and other loads associated with pipeline and utility facilities.
- Coordinate civil and structural designs with pipeline, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls, architectural, geotechnical, construction, and project management teams.
- Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and structural analysis software to develop engineering drawings, models, calculations, and design details.
- Conduct field investigations, site walks, and structural condition assessments to document existing conditions, verify dimensions, identify constraints, and collect information needed for design.
- Evaluate existing concrete, steel, masonry, and wood structures for deterioration, damage, capacity, and suitability for continued use or modification.
- Develop scopes of work, design criteria, project estimates, schedules, material quantities, and technical proposal content.
- Review vendor drawings, equipment data, shop drawings, material submittals, requests for information, change requests, and contractor proposals.
