Goals & Responsibilities
This position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of engineering professionals
- Provide leadership and oversight on municipal and private development projects
- Drive market growth by building client relationships, responding to RFPs, and networking
- Serve as a technical resource for staff training, quality control, and project management
- Develop, execute, and oversee strategic client relationship plans
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients and subconsultants
- Collaborate with leadership across Axiom and Ruekert & Mielke to execute corporate strategies
Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following education, experience, and abilities:
- Bachelor9s Degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Iowa (or ability to obtain)
- Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience, including 5+ years in project management and/or business development roles
- Broad experience across water distribution, sanitary sewage collection, water resources, transportation, land development, permitting, and construction
- Proven experience with client interaction, business development, proposal preparation, and contract negotiation
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive both independently and within a team environment, while managing deadlines effectively
