Contact:The Public Works-Engineering & Surveying Division currently has two Sr. Civil Engineer vacancies, one in the Planning/Environmental Engineering Section and one in the Capital Projects Design Section.
Planning/Environmental Engineering Section The Planning/Environmental Engineering Section develops transportation and infrastructure projects from concept through environmental clearance. The section identifies and secures grant funding, manages environmental studies, and obtains the permits and regulatory approvals necessary for project delivery. Staff work closely with agencies such as Caltrans, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Regional Water Quality Control Board, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, local Tribal governments, and other regulatory partners to ensure projects comply with state and federal requirements while maintaining project schedules.
Capital Projects Design SectionThe Capital Projects Design Section is responsible for the design and preparation of plans, specifications, and engineer's estimates (PS&E) for roadways, bridges, and other transportation improvement projects throughout Solano County. Staff develop construction plans using Civil 3D, prepare technical specifications and cost estimates, and coordinate with utility companies, surveyors, and other stakeholders. The section designs projects in accordance with the Caltrans Highway Design Manual, AASHTO's Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets (Green Book), the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD), and other applicable engineering standards to deliver safe and efficient transportation infrastructure.
THE POSITIONCivil Engineer (Senior) participates in and provides technical oversight of professional and technical engineering staff in the performance of advanced level professional and technical engineering work including planning, scheduling, designing, organizing, evaluating and reviewing public works projects; to enforce Federal, State, and local regulations and codes.
The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSExperience: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience that includes, traffic, structure, hydraulic, and/or utility system design and/or construction responsibilities.
Education/Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Possession of a valid license as a Registered Civil Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is required.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver's license is required.
