Civil Engineer

Our Southern California team is growing, and we are looking for a Civil Engineer to join our team. You are going to work closely with a team of experts on some of North America's most significant projects. And we are thrilled to have contributed to projects like the Fargo-Moorhead Flood Diversion in Fargo, ND, the Potomac River Crossing in Washington, DC, and the Van Sinderen Avenue Streetscape Improvements in Brooklyn, NY.

Your key responsibilities will be:
  • Be a leading contributor to a team of engineers and technicians
  • Solve engineering problems and challenges
  • Perform designs, evaluations, preparation of calculations and drawings, and cost estimates
  • Conduct site inspections and investigations from time-to-time
  • Prepare standard documents, such as technical specifications, per applicable design codes
  • Research and review design options for both technical and financial impact
  • Prepare engineering reports and other technical documents

  • Hold bachelor's degree in civil engineering or higher (master's degree preferred), with 4 to 8 years of related experience in Civil Design, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Be registered as a Professional Engineer in CA, or ability to obtain while working at COWI
  • Actively participate in professional associations. and have the ability and willingness to learn
  • Have superior planning and organizational skills combined with the ability to work in a time-sensitive situation on multiple deadlines
  • Have high written and verbal communication skills including the proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Be familiar with various CADD analysis software programs
  • Be able to work with staff located remotely and willingness to travel is an asset
  • Have experience with site development, utilities and stormwater design

Base compensation: $88,000 to $136,200 for San Diego only. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, skill set and/or location.
