About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Control Management Officer to join the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Operations Control organization, the first line of risk management for CIB Operations. This team is responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing operational and regulatory risks across a complex global environment while providing independent oversight to ensure controls are effective, risks are appropriately managed, and regulatory obligations are met.
This role supports the Trade & Transaction Reporting and Non-Financial Regulatory Reporting functions within CIB Operations Control. The position plays a critical role in overseeing regulatory obligations, governance, controls, new business initiatives, and risk management activities across multiple regulatory frameworks, including SEC, CFTC/NFA, FINRA, MSRB, and MiFID.
Working closely with partners across Operations, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Technology, Data Management, Audit, and Transformation, this role is responsible for evaluating emerging risks, strengthening the control environment, and driving sustainable remediation of identified issues. The position provides independent challenge and oversight across a broad portfolio that includes regulatory reporting, operational risk management, control effectiveness, business transformation efforts, new business initiatives, and regulatory change management.

In this role, you will:
- Act as an advisor to more experienced leaders in developing risk mitigation strategies for complex and highly integrated business specific risk across different business lines
- Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report impact of decisions and business controls to the relevant business group and enterprise function
- Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex current and emerging risks requiring in depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, as well as good understanding of financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, and business process management
- Provide vision, direction, and expertise to more experienced leaders on implementing innovative and significant business solutions for highly complex risks associated with business operations
- Lead and mentor Control Management project or virtual teams
- Engage with all levels of roles across the business group, and serve as an experienced advisor in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and controls that mitigate risks and address regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Risk Management or Financial Services Industry experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Qualified Financial Contracts (QFC), Non-Financial Regulatory Reporting (NFRR), and Trade & Transaction Reporting (TTR) programs.
- Strong knowledge of internal controls, control design, operational risk management principles, and regulatory expectations.
- Experience performing Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), risk identification, risk assessments, and enterprise risk management activities.
- Working knowledge of Investment Banking Operations, including operational processes, regulatory obligations, and associated risks.
- Strong understanding of regulatory reporting requirements and governance frameworks, including experience supporting compliance with SEC, CFTC/NFA, FINRA, MSRB, and MiFID regulations.
- Demonstrated experience providing effective challenge and oversight of regulatory obligations, governance processes, control frameworks, and risk management programs.
- Experience assessing risk and control impacts related to data management, automation, digitization initiatives, artificial intelligence (AI), and emerging technologies.
- Proven ability to evaluate and strengthen control environments through data analysis, risk assessments, and proactive identification of emerging risks.
- Experience managing multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously, including audits, regulatory commitments, issue remediation, and control enhancement programs.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize data, risk assessments, audit findings, metrics, and qualitative insights into clear, concise communications that support risk-based decision-making.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including analyzing complex data, developing actionable insights, and creating executive-level reporting materials.
- Strong partnership, collaboration, and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships and provide credible challenge across a highly matrixed organization.
- Highly organized and self-directed, with strong judgment, risk management acumen, and the ability to prioritize competing demands, meet deadlines, and appropriately escalate issues when necessary.
- Ability to navigate complex regulatory and operational environments while balancing business objectives, compliance requirements, and risk considerations.
