Description

We are seeking a Staff Psychiatrist to join our interdisciplinary team and support consumers on their journey toward recovery.
Position Summary

Under the administrative direction of the Medical Services Supervisor and the clinical direction of the Medical Director, the Staff Psychiatrist provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and treatment planning. This role requires a strong clinical background, collaboration across disciplines, and the ability to positively engage consumers in their treatment and recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and individualized treatment planning.
  • Provide direct psychiatric services, including evaluations, prescribing, and monitoring of medications.
  • Ensure accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Certify consumers for involuntary psychiatric hospitalization per Michigan Mental Health Code.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, psychiatrists, clinicians, and community partners.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, peer reviews, and implementation of evidence-based practices.
  • Serve on medical and administrative committees; provide recommendations to the Medical Director.
  • Support professional training programs and assist in staff development.
  • Provide on-call backup coverage for peers as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with LifeWays policies, recipient rights, and all confidentiality laws.


Requirements

Required Education / Certification / Licensure
  • M.D or D.O. degree and successful completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency program.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Michigan.
  • Valid Michigan Controlled Substance License and Drug Enforcement Agency Registration.
  • Must pass background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, verification of a professional licenses, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of the National Practitioners Databank/Healthcare Integrity & Protection Databank Search, verification of Board Certification, educational background check and verification of an acceptable work history.
  • Must be insurable through the professional liability and malpractice insurance provided by LifeWays.
