Full Job Description
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Service Provider network architecture: Deep, current understanding of Tier 1 Telco networks - including 5G/RAN (Open RAN, vRAN, cRAN/dRAN, disaggregation), 5G Core (SA/NSA), Xhaul transport (fronthaul, midhaul, backhaul), IP/MPLS and segment routing, optical transport, and the operational realities of running carrier-grade networks at scale.
  • Cloud, virtualization, and network automation: Fluency in the cloud-native transformation of Service Provider networks - including VNF/CNF, Kubernetes for network workloads, hyperscaler and neocloud partnerships, network automation, observability, and CI/CD practices that support carrier-grade operations.
  • OSS/BSS and service orchestration: Working knowledge of Tier 1 Telco operational and business systems - OSS/BSS modernization, service orchestration and lifecycle management, inventory, billing, and the automation that underpins new services and monetization.
  • Edge compute, MEC, and network slicing: Understanding of mobile edge compute (MEC), multi-access edge, network slicing, private wireless, and how these enable new enterprise and consumer use cases across Tier 1 Telco customers.
  • Cybersecurity for Service Providers: Advisory experience across zero trust, SASE/SSE, subscriber protection, DDoS mitigation, secure multi-tenancy, supply-chain integrity, and the broader controls needed to keep large SP environments resilient and compliant.
  • Data center and infrastructure modernization: Solid grounding in compute, storage, virtualization, and hybrid/multi-cloud designs (including hyperscaler and neocloud environments), with an understanding of the specific demands Tier 1 Telcos place on their infrastructure - including power, cooling, density, and sustainability considerations.
  • Broader Service Provider industry context: Familiarity with the OEM and vendor landscape (Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung, Mavenir, Cisco, Juniper, and others), regulatory and spectrum dynamics, and the business models shaping the future of Tier 1 Telcos globally.
  • Working knowledge of how AI applies to Service Provider environments - including AI-ready infrastructure (GPU and accelerator platforms, AI networking fabrics such as InfiniBand and RoCE, parallel storage), foundation models and GenAI, agentic AI, AI inference and serving, and modern data platforms - and the ability to translate these into Tier 1 Telco use cases such as network AI, customer experience AI, operations automation, and new AI-driven revenue streams.

Compensation & Benefits

Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $175,000 to $225,000 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base pay.

What will you be doing?

World Wide Technology is seeking a Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) to join our GSP Global CTO leadership team with a focus on our Strategic Telco customers. The CTA will serve as the senior technical authority for the solution, technology, and services strategy that underpins the business development plans and sales engagements. This is an industry and executive-facing, revenue-influencing role that operates at the intersection of deep technical expertise and business strategy. The CTA owns the GSP Strategic Telco industry strategy and provides guidance across AI, digital, data, security, network, cloud, infrastructure, and broader technology initiatives (including AI strategy, foundation-model and GenAI adoption, AI-ready infrastructure, agentic AI, 5G/RAN and mobile core modernization, network AI, cybersecurity and zero trust, cloud and multi-cloud, modern data platforms, data center and infrastructure modernization, and broader digital transformation). Working closely with GSP's Global CTO organization and Strategic Telco customer executive leadership to ensure their technology investments deliver long-term business outcomes, operational impact, and competitive advantage.

The Global Service Provider CTO team supports the world's largest Strategic Telcos across the full WWT portfolio; bringing AI strategy and AI-ready infrastructure, GenAI and agentic platforms, network AI, 5G/RAN and mobile core modernization, cybersecurity and zero trust, cloud and multi-cloud, modern data, data center and infrastructure modernization, and broader digital transformation together under one team. The CTA plays a pivotal role in fostering relationships by working closely with our Strategic Telco customers and key OEMs, as well as WWT's account teams and internal engineering, delivery, and service organizations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & COMPETENCIES

You will be the senior technical voice in the room when it matters most; representing WWT's Global Service Provider organization alongside WWT account executives, practice leaders, and architects engaging with Chief AI Officers, CDAOs, CTOs, CIOs, VP-level Network and RAN engineering leaders, and VP-level technology, AI, data, and infrastructure buyers at the largest Strategic Telcos in the country. Your credibility is the differentiator, ultimately leading to the deployment of transformative AI, digital, data, security, network, cloud, and broader technology solutions in support of our Strategic Telco customers' business strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead Executive/Sr. level meetings with customers to gain a detailed understanding of their technical and business needs.
  • Develop transformational Tier 1 Telco industry specific solutions and roadmaps across AI, digital, data, security, network (5G/RAN, mobile core, network AI), and broader technology initiatives that enable our customers to achieve best-in-class performance, reliability, security, and responsible-use posture, while adhering to industry-standard architectural principles.
  • Conduct architecture and technical workshops: including enablement sessions, strategy sessions, and Proof of Value engagements in collaboration with WWT experts across AI, digital, data, security, and broader technology disciplines, including GPU and accelerator platforms, AI networking and storage, data platforms, GenAI and agentic AI, security and governance, and modern application development.
  • Demonstrate WWT's value proposition and differentiation effectively to technical and business audiences including: the AI Proving Ground, Advanced Technology Center (ATC), Integration Centers, and WWT's end-to-end services portfolio across AI, cloud, security, networking, data center, and modern applications.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of WWT's Advanced Technology Center (ATC), AI Proving Ground, and North American Integration Center (NAIC), building effective working relationships with leaders in these areas to represent the full WWT AI value proposition to customers.
  • Work closely with WWT's practice leaders (AI/Data, Cloud, Security, Networking, Data Center, and Modern Applications), Management Consulting, implementation, and project teams to ensure smooth transitions from strategy and sales into delivery.
  • Participate in industry, product, sales, and procedural training as needed to maintain the knowledge and certifications necessary to be effective.
  • Provide accurate and timely management information such as activity reports, bid reviews, and project forecasts that adhere to WWT's quality and business processes.
