SEVP Chief Strategy Experience Officer - About the Role

Texas Health Resources seeks an innovative and execution-oriented Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) to help shape the next generation of healthcare delivery. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a member of the executive leadership team, the CSO will lead enterprise strategy while driving the transformation initiatives that position Texas Health for long-term growth, operational excellence, and industry leadership.

The Chief Strategy Officer will oversee enterprise functions including strategic planning, strategy and market development, information technology, enterprise analytics, product development, and strategic transformation. The role is accountable for ensuring these capabilities are aligned around a common enterprise strategy and deliver measurable business, clinical, consumer, workforce, and community outcomes.

The Chief Strategy Officer will work across every major function of the organization, influencing leaders without direct authority, establishing enterprise governance and accountability for strategic initiatives, and aligning diverse stakeholders around a common strategic agenda.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Enterprise Transformation

  • Develop and execute the enterprise transformation roadmap aligned with Texas Health's long-term strategy.
  • Establish enterprise-wide governance, portfolio management, performance measurement, and accountability for strategic initiatives across growth, quality, cost, consumer experience, and operational performance.
  • Drive large-scale initiatives that improve efficiency, lower the cost of care, modernize operating models, and create a differentiated consumer experience.
  • Serve as the catalyst for change across a complex, matrixed health system by building alignment and accountability among executive leaders.

Accelerate Technology, Digital & AI Transformation

  • Provide executive leadership for enterprise technology, analytics, and digital capabilities, ensuring technology investments are aligned with strategic priorities and deliver measurable business value.
  • Partner closely with clinical, operational, and digital leaders to modernize enterprise platforms, data architecture, and technology infrastructure.
  • Champion the adoption of AI and advanced analytics to improve clinical outcomes, operational performance, workforce productivity, consumer engagement, and decision-making.
  • Build an industry-leading technology and analytics organization that delivers reliable enterprise capabilities and serves as a strategic partner across the health system.

Shape the Future Business Model

  • Identify opportunities to diversify revenue beyond traditional fee-for-service and payer relationships.
  • Evaluate and develop innovative products, consumer offerings, digital services, retail delivery models, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and adjacent growth opportunities that strengthen Texas Health's competitive position.
  • Lead an enterprise product strategy that enhances consumer access, differentiates the Texas Health experience, and supports sustainable long-term growth.

Advance Value-Based Care

  • Partner with clinical and financial leadership to strengthen Texas Health's value-based care strategy and enterprise risk capabilities.
  • Align enterprise strategy with evolving reimbursement models, population health priorities, and long-term financial sustainability.
  • Leverage analytics and market intelligence to support value creation across clinical, financial, and operational performance.

Enterprise Strategy & Growth

  • Advise the CEO and executive leadership team on market trends, consumer insights, competitive dynamics, reimbursement changes, and emerging opportunities.
  • Lead enterprise strategic planning and translate long-range priorities into executable initiatives.
  • Use market intelligence, internal performance data, and external trends to identify strategic opportunities and emerging risks.
  • Evaluate strategic investments, affiliations, partnerships, acquisitions, and growth opportunities that advance the organization's mission and strengthen its market position.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate is an enterprise transformation leader with the credibility to influence executives, the operational mindset to execute, and the vision to help redefine healthcare delivery.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Fifteen or more years of progressive executive leadership experience within a large, complex healthcare organization or closely related industry.
  • A master's degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field.
  • A proven record of leading enterprise transformation rather than serving solely in an advisory or planning capacity.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise strategy and execution in a highly integrated, matrixed healthcare organization, payer-provider environment, or similarly complex enterprise.
  • Deep understanding of technology-enabled business transformation, including enterprise platforms, data and analytics, digital capabilities, AI implementation, and technology-enabled operating model redesign.
  • Experience leading product development, market strategy, partnership development, consumer strategy, and new business model innovation.
  • Strong understanding of value-based care, population health, consumer segmentation, financial risk models, and healthcare reimbursement.
  • Experience improving operational performance through technology modernization, analytics, and process redesign.
  • Exceptional executive presence with demonstrated ability to influence across highly matrixed organizations without relying on direct authority.

Healthcare provider experience is strongly preferred. Experience bringing innovative consumer, retail, digital, or technology capabilities into healthcare environments is highly valued.
