You will join the Commercial Operationsteamwhich is a small but rapidly growing team thatis responsible forexecuting uponJoby92s vision for an air taxi service, with Joby serving as the certificated air carrier for 14 CFR Part 135 operations. You will play a foundational role in developing and implementing manuals, procedures, and training and operations programs. You will work closely with subject matter experts across Joby to support product, pilot recruitment and training, operations, and safety.

Responsibilities
- Pilotedaircraftand conventionally powered aircraft
- Lead a team of pilots conducting 14 CFR Parts 91 and 135 operations and remain available and qualified to fly in these operations
- Supervise,support, and flyrevenueand non-revenueoperations
- Ownand manage the pilot training program forrevenue and non-revenue flight operations
- Autonomousand remote pilotedconventionallypowered aircraft
- Develop and manage aninternalaudit programfor Joby92s autonomous and remote piloted flight operations
- Support in drafting/ revisingFAA approved and accepted manuals forcommercial operations
- Support in developingand implementing pilot procedures forremote and autonomous commercial flights
- Support in developingthetraining program forpilots and remote operators
- eVTOL pre-commercial and commercial operations
- Hire and supervise Joby92s eVTOL commercialUSpilots
- Supportbuilding and implementingthe training program of Joby92s eVTOL commercial pilots
- Serve as the lead commercial pilot to define requirements and evaluate suitability of eVTOL functions, features, and capabilitiesfor pilots and passengers
- Build supervision and managementstructure to lead Joby92s commercial pilots globally, ensuring lines of reporting, compliance monitoring, andlocal supervision of regional pilot cadres
- Align and collaborate with flight operations leadersinanydomesticand internationalairline thatoperatesJoby92seVTOL
- Develop Joby92s global standards and procedures foreVTOL pilots in commercial operationsincluding a means for verification and auditing
- Developand implement operational programs that ensure the safe and compliant execution of mission objectives for flight operations under 14 CFR Parts 91 and 135across all aircraft types
- Develop policies, procedures, manuals, training, andregulatory compliance programs that support the initial certification of our 14 CFR Part 135 air carrier operationacross allaircrafttypes
- Work closely with the Director of Maintenance and the Director of Operations to ensure operations are conducted to the highest standards of safety, excellence, and compliance
- Develop and maintain flight crew records, ensuring compliance with Joby92s policies and applicable regulations
- Maintain flight crewproficiencyrecords and schedule required proficiency checks
- Supervise flight crew scheduling, ensuring flight crew are scheduled in accordance with Joby92s policies and regulatory requirements
- Ensure aircraft and flight creware properly equipped with up-to-date manuals, flight information publications, and other relevant aeronautical information
- Participate in Joby92s drug and alcohol testing program
- Collaborate with Joby92s aviation safety team to promote SMS programs and ensure compliance with approved operational safety practices
- Perform other duties as requested by the Commercial Operations Lead
Required
- Meet experience requirements under 14 CFR Part 119.71 (c)
- Airline transport pilot certificate
- Haveat least3years experience, within the past 6 years,as pilot in command ofan aircraftoperatedunder 14 CFR Parts 135 or 121, or;
- With previous experience as aChief Pilot, have at least 3years experienceaspilot incommand ofan aircraftoperatedunder 14 CFR Part 135 or 121
- Current first or second class medical certificate
- Experience in aviation operations in progressive positions of responsibility
- At least3,000 hourspilot in command flight time with 250 hours in fixed wing aircraft
- Impeccable safety record / FAA enforcement record
- Experience with aviation flight standardization, training, and SMS
- Must be highly knowledgeable of FAA regulations, 14 CFR Parts 91 and 135 operations, NTSB procedures, operations specifications
- Willing to relocate to California; the role is based in Marina,CA
Desired
- Prior experience as a Chief Pilot in an organization conducting 14 CFR Parts 135 or 121 operations
- FAA certified Airline Transport Pilot - airplane multiengine
- FAA certified commercial helicopter/rotorcraft rating
- FAA certified flight instructor
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with customer service
- Experience using electronic manual programs
- Experience managing electronic flight bag programs
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets and PowerPoint/Google Slides
Additional Information
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $212,100 - $265,600/yr .The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
