Definition
The City of Missouri City, known as the "Show Me City," is seeking an accomplished and strategic executive to serve as its Chief of Staff. Reporting directly to the City Manager, this position serves as the principal advisor and extension of the City Manager by leading executive operations, advancing strategic initiatives, coordinating organizational priorities, and ensuring the effective execution of City Council goals and City Manager directives.
The Chief of Staff provides executive leadership for cross-functional initiatives, organizational performance, executive communications, intergovernmental relations, and continuous improvement while fostering collaboration, accountability, and organizational alignment. This position exercises exceptional judgment, political acumen, confidentiality, and discretion in managing complex and sensitive matters and may supervise professional, administrative, communication

Examples of Work

Education, Experience, or Certification

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, Public Policy, Organizational Leadership, or a closely related field is required.
  • Master's degree in Public Administration (MPA), Business Administration (MBA), Public Policy, Organizational Leadership, or a related field is preferred.
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible executive management experience in municipal or comparable public-sector organizations, including executive leadership support, strategic planning, policy implementation, and cross-functional project management.
  • Experience as a Chief of Staff, Assistant City Manager, Deputy City Manager, Executive Director, or comparable executive leadership position is preferred.
