Full Job Description
Position Overview

We're looking for a Chief of Staff to work directly alongside our founder and Managing Partner, and give him meaningful leverage across everything he touches. The firm moves fast across a large and varied portfolio; this person makes sure the most important things move forward, that nothing critical falls through the cracks, and that the CEO's time and attention go where they matter most.

This role is both highly strategic and deeply hands-on. You'll operate as a thought partner and a doer - translating priorities into action, owning follow-through from start to finish, managing the flow of information and communication, and serving as a trusted bridge across the firm, its companies, and outside partners.

This is also an AI-native role by design, and we expect it to evolve continuously. The best person in this seat instinctively uses AI to take work off their own plate - automating the routine so they can keep moving up to higher-leverage work. The job you start with shouldn't be the job you're doing a year from now.

The best version of this person becomes genuinely indispensable, earns more responsibility over time, and builds a deep, lasting partnership with the firm and our portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Be a key point of leverage for the Founder and Managing Partner across the full range of his work, internal and external - taking things off his plate and extending his reach.
  • Identify the few things that matter most and drive them home - taking the firm's most important projects and initiatives to timely, high-quality completion, and owning the outcome rather than just the to-do list.
  • Be the forcing function for decisions and action. Surface what needs deciding, put a clear question in front of whoever owns it, and press until it's resolved.
  • Own follow-through end to end: capture what needs to happen, run it down across whoever needs to move, and close the loop without being asked or reminded.
  • Represent the CEO with internal and external stakeholders - in meetings, on email, and on calls - making sure he walks into everything prepared and walks out with the follow-ups handled.
  • Manage the flow of information and communication around the CEO and the firm's executives, synthesizing the firehose into what people need to know and decide.
  • Sit in board meetings and stand in for the CEO at portfolio companies he's most involved in to keep the highest priority projects moving forward
  • Partner closely with Atomic's executives to keep the whole leadership group aligned and moving in the same direction.
  • Be the trusted liaison across the team, the portfolio, and outside partners, and handle the most sensitive, confidential matters with complete discretion.

Who You Are
  • An exceptional communicator. You write and speak with clarity, concision, and judgment - able to represent the firm to anyone, distill the complicated down to what actually matters.
  • Highly organized. You bring structure to an inherently unstructured job - imposing order on the swirl of priorities, communications, and action items so nothing slips and the people around you can move faster.
  • Action-oriented. You have a sharp instinct for the few things that matter most at any given moment, and you clear the decks to make them happen and drive them to done.
  • Genuinely curious and humble. You ask good questions, listen more than you talk, want to understand before you act, and you're simply a good person to be around.
  • Low ego, no drama. You care about the outcome, not the credit. You'll go deep on the work that needs to get done and do whatever the moment calls for without worrying about whether it's technically "your job." No politics, no theatrics, just a steady and straightforward presence people trust.
  • High trust and range. We can hand you the most sensitive, consequential things and not think about them again - discreet, reliable, and steady when the stakes and pressure are high. And you move fluidly between a board-level conversation, a go-to-market problem, and an operational fire in the same day, with the instincts of a builder.
  • AI-native. You already use modern tools to do the work of a team, and you're relentless about turning them on your own work - automating the routine and continually raising what you're capable of.

Qualifications
  • A track record of operating at high velocity and high trust near the center of an ambitious organization - as a chief of staff, operator, founder, or in consulting, banking, or investing. We care far more about range, judgment, and drive than about any single pedigree.
  • Time as an early or senior contributor at a fast-moving startup or high-growth company, with evidence you drove outcomes.
  • Exceptional organization and execution, with the ability to keep a dozen plates spinning and never drop the one that matters.
  • Scrappy and resourceful. You build structure where there is none and stay calm when the ground is shifting.
  • Genuinely excited to commit to this role and grow alongside the firm.

We are focused on building a diverse and inclusive workforce. If you're excited about this role, but do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply.
