Position Description

Are you an accomplished nursing leader who is passionate about leading clinical excellence, advancing nursing practice, and shaping the future of behavioral healthcare?

We are seeking a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to provide executive leadership for nursing practice across the organization. As the senior nursing leader, you will establish the strategic direction for nursing services, ensure the highest standards of clinical quality and patient safety, and partner with executive leadership to build a culture of accountability, innovation, and exceptional care.

This is an opportunity to influence nursing practice at the highest level while supporting clinical teams, driving operational excellence, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

What You'll Do
  • Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for nursing services across the organization.
  • Establish, implement, and evaluate nursing policies, procedures, and clinical practice standards that support quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure nursing practice aligns with state regulations, accreditation requirements, client contracts, and nationally recognized standards of care.
  • Lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care programs that promote positive clinical outcomes and continuous quality improvement.
  • Partner with Quality and Risk Management to evaluate Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives and implement best practices.
  • Serve as an active member of corporate Quality Improvement, Pharmacy & Therapeutics, and Infection Prevention committees.
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership, medical services, operations, and human resources to support organizational initiatives and clinical excellence.
  • Develop and oversee nursing credentialing, orientation, continuing education, competency programs, and leadership development.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and Human Resources to develop recruitment and retention strategies while monitoring nursing workforce trends and turnover.
  • Provide guidance and consultation to nursing leaders across multiple sites to ensure consistency in clinical operations and nursing practice.
  • Prepare executive reports and present nursing performance metrics, quality outcomes, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, collaboration, and continuous improvement throughout nursing services.

What We're Looking For

Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
  • Master's degree in Nursing or other healthcare-related field (preferred)

Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive clinical nursing experience (required)
  • Experience in emergency, medical-surgical, communicable disease, or other acute care settings (preferred)
  • Executive or senior nursing leadership experience overseeing nursing operations, quality, and clinical practice (preferred)
  • Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, correctional healthcare, or forensic healthcare environments (preferred)

Licenses & Certifications
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment (required)
