Full Job Description
Chief Financial Officer

Brigham City, Utah | Full-Time | On-Site

Own the finance function. Help shape the future. See the impact of your work.

Elevate Credit Union is looking for a hands-on financial leader to serve as our next Chief Financial Officer. This opportunity may be especially appealing to an experienced Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, CFO, or comparable financial leader who has owned key financial functions and is ready for greater organizational influence, direct partnership with the CEO, and responsibility for the full finance function.

The Opportunity

As CFO, you will take full ownership of the Credit Union's finance function and personally manage its core accounting and financial responsibilities. This is an executive position, but it is also a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working directly with the numbers, investigating discrepancies, solving problems, and seeing responsibilities through from beginning to end.

You will also serve as a trusted thought partner to the CEO by providing financial insight, evaluating options, asking thoughtful questions, and raising concerns constructively when decisions warrant a closer look.

Credit union experience is not required. We are looking for someone with a strong accounting foundation, sound judgment, integrity, curiosity, and a record of owning significant financial responsibilities. The right financial leader can learn our industry, systems, and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and perform accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Prepare financial statements, management reports, Board reports, and required regulatory financial reports.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and oversee general ledger activity, reconciliations, and the resolution of accounting issues.
  • Manage asset-liability activities, liquidity, investments, interest-rate risk, and CECL.
  • Chair the quarterly Asset Liability Management Committee and present financial information and recommendations.
  • Coordinate financial audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Manage accounts payable, tax reporting, loan participation accounting, and other key financial functions.
  • Provide financial analysis, recommendations, and strategic support to the CEO and leadership team.

What Success Requires
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Progressively responsible accounting or financial management experience, preferably in a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, CFO, or comparable role.
  • Direct ownership of financial statements, month-end close, budgeting, audits, general ledger functions, reconciliations, internal controls, and financial analysis.
  • The accounting depth and judgment to manage the finance function independently while learning credit-union-specific systems, reporting requirements, regulations, and practices.
  • Strong accounting knowledge and Excel skills.
  • The ability to research accounting issues, solve problems, manage competing priorities, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Sound judgment about which decisions can be handled independently and which have broader strategic, financial, regulatory, or organizational implications.

The Person We're Looking For

Integrity is essential.

You are dependable, organized, analytical, self-motivated, and attentive to detail. You take ownership, follow through, ask thoughtful questions, and remain curious when something is unfamiliar.

You are proactive and solution-focused. When something does not go as planned, you work to understand the issue, take responsibility, and help move the organization toward a solution.

You are comfortable working independently while remaining flexible and collaborative. You consider different perspectives, build productive working relationships, and support the broader team.

You also know how to balance candor with judgment, raising concerns thoughtfully and respectfully with an eye toward practical solutions and long-term success.

This is a full-time, on-site position located in Brigham City, Utah.
