Job Details:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key strategic leader. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CFO is responsible for advancing the financial health and strategic direction of the organization through effective stewardship, collaboration, and innovation.

This role provides comprehensive leadership for all financial and operational support functions, overseeing finance, accounting, statistical and capital budgeting, supply chain management, and the entire revenue cycle. The CFO partners closely with clinical and operational leaders to align financial performance with quality, access, and growth strategies and serves as executive sponsor for high-impact initiatives.

Job Description:

Operational Oversight and Accountability
Provides executive leadership for Finance and Accounting, Revenue Cycle, and Supply Chain Management. Oversees key functions including data analytics, decision support, strategic planning, project management, and operational improvement efforts. Supervises direct leaders across finance and revenue cycle areas, with broad responsibility for several hundred indirect reports.
Technology, Innovation, and Infrastructure
Serves as an executive sponsor for major organizational initiatives, including EHR implementation and adoption. Supports planning and financial strategy for large-scale capital projects, expansions, and infrastructure investments.
Governance and External Engagement
Leads Board Finance Committee activities, including Audit and Investment, and prepares materials to support fiduciary oversight and governance. Represents the organization through engagement with professional and trade associations, including IHA and HFMA, on healthcare finance, reimbursement, and operational initiatives.
Collaboration and Culture
Partners with senior leadership, physician executives, and operational leaders to promote collaboration, financial stewardship, clinical alignment, and organizational sustainability. Mentors emerging leaders and supports leadership development across departments.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (required)
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare finance, including executive-level responsibility for budgeting, accounting, and financial operations (required)​
  • 4-6 years’ experience overseeing revenue cycle, supply chain, or capital planning in a healthcare setting (required)
  • 4-6 years’ experience providing financial oversight in a multi-entity health system, including hospitals, physician practices, and outpatient services (required)
  • 4-6 years’ experience clinical leadership to align financial performance with quality, safety, and patient access (required)
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation (preferred)
  • Additional certifications (e.g., FHFMA, CHFP) are desirable and reflect commitment to continued professional development (preferred)
  • 4-6 years’ experience in engaging with Boards of Directors and Finance Committees, including investment strategy, audit oversight, and capital planning (preferred)
  • 1-3 years’ experience guiding or leading enterprise-level technology implementations, such as EHR conversions, strongly (preferred)
  • 1-3 years of active involvement in professional organizations such as HFMA, IHA, or similar associations (preferred)
